Went to the dealer today to ask about how to fix my sqeeky springs and he said that he'd been replacing spring packs and isolators to no avail!!! In about three weeks they would squeek again..I know this to be true on my early 1999. Does anyone know of a tsb or a permanent fix?
The 3rd time to my dealer for the isolator tips did the trick!! Almost one year, no squeaks. The tech did also lube them up pretty good at the time of install...Mine are the milky-white colored ones. Also, be sure and check other suspension componants as well.....good luck...

Oh man, don't tell me...you have had the new truck less than a week and already its doing something odd? Hope there is a much easier solution than the last fiasco. How loud is the squeak?

Guess it's unfortunate for SD owners, but I don't consider the spring squeak to be "odd". I don't mind it at all- just turn the radio up a little!
You know, if you had gone with the PSD, the louder engine noise may have drowned out the squeaking springs and this never would have been an issue.
Had to beat everyone else to the punch on that one.

I had the squeaking front X springs on my Y2K F-250 V-10. The white isolators were tried to no avail. The dealer changed the X springs to the new design X spring and they've been quiet since they were installed last Nov. SamC
While I do like the sound (and smell) of a diesel, I think Merle is better for drowing out noises. Well, unless my wife is with me- that requires Ozzy!
Ok- back on topic... I noticed that the isolators on this truck appear to be black. May just be paint or that black goo that's all over the frame.

I would have to agree with you on the Merle. I might throw in a little Hank Jr too.
Would you please explain the isolaters to me? I am unfamiliar with this.
Thanks.

My truck sounds like an old squeaky mattress.

Jr. is good too!
The isolators are disc-shaped (plastic?) and are installed between the tips of the two front springs on each side.
I too have squeaky front springs. At first it was like a squeaking and groaning noise combined when going over speed bumps/other bumps. Took it to dealer and they replaced some rubber bushings around the anti-sway bar. That worked great for about 2 weeks.
Then it got worse little by little. Never went back to dealer. I've been putting a bit of oil now and then around the various spring components and that seems to last for a while. The groaning noise is almost gone now but the "old-mattress" squeak still comes back. Especially after the springs have dried after a washing or from rain. I've been squirting a little oil on the rear plastic pieces at the rear end of the springs...that seems to help the "old-matress" squeak for a while. I've got about 36k mi on it now. Eventually the noise will go away. It seems to be gradually getting better. Even after lots of 4-wheeling out in the desert, those springs still squeak a bit. Oh well....at least it runs good and has no leaks.
I just hauled @ 2800lbs of dirt this weekend and noticed the squeak; unloaded, no squeak! It reminded me of the Herb-Adams swaybar, with urethane bushing, I had on my 70 NOVA(Great swaybar by the way!). I used to squirt a little WD-40 and that took care of it for a while; the only problem was it would attack dirt and dust.
Does anyone know if putting WD-40 or oil on these squeaky parts will shorten the life of the rubber bushings?
