Why so few V10 6.8's in dealer inventories?

You can find anything you want in a 08 Super Duty 6.4 diesel; however, try to find a V10 and there are very few. Many more 5.4 engines available. I love the way the 08 Super Duties look and are built, but do not like all the EPA crap and other baggage that comes with the 6.4 diesel engine. Why are V10's not readily available in the marketplace? Are people afraid of the mileage on a V10? I would like to order a V10 the way I want it, since I can't find it, but am I missing something? The V10 has a reputation as a reliable engine and the super duty is well built. Seems like there should be more V10 sales to me, but what do I know.

You are right McFly, and that is why I ordered mine the way I wanted it with the V-10. It's probably the best gas combo I've ever driven with the TorqueShift tranny, etc. I don't know where you are located, but I know that Barber Brothers Ford in Morgan, Utah has 2 in stock that are nicely equipped.

Re: Why so few V10 6.8's in dealer inventories?

Went to dealer at the start of October. I wanted an 08 F-250 S/C with V-10 and manual trans. Searched 1,000 miles out from Pittsburgh,PA, found nothing. Ordered the truck. Should be here around Thanksgiving. Can't wait to put a good engine in the garage and get International's P.O.S. boat anchor out.
Best, Buck

Re: Why so few V10 6.8's in dealer inventories?

When I decided to get a new truck, I too decided to go from diesel to the V10, and had the same problem. The local dealer did a search for what we were looking for and nothing. I was going to order as well until I found a great deal on '05 with very low miles. Have absolutely no regrets. Even used V10's are almost impossible to get. Around here, if you find one, it sells faster than the diesels.

Re: Why so few V10 6.8's in dealer inventories?

There is a dealer up in around Omaha that has quite a large inventory of V-10 trucks in stock. Not just your plain XL work units, but nice XLT and Lariat trucks. I just can't think of the dealers name. Maybe some one will come along and help out the name. Dealership also shows all the inventory on their web site.

Oh, and the answer to your question as to why dealers don't inventory the V-10.....Profit margin is a lot higher on the PSD.

It is Woodhouse Ford in Blair NE, zip 68008. Go to Ford dealers and search by zip and you will find it. They have 87 F350s in stock of which 16 are V-10s.
