Wouldn't idle....then it did....any thoughts???

I hopped in my truck this mornign and turn3ed the key. She fired off, but wouldn't stay at idle. It did this for about 10 min (about 6 tries). I then let it sit for about 5 min and tried it again. It started up and purred like a kitten.
Any ideas why it would do this?

I just changed the plugs about 2 weeks ago. I am going to check and make sure nothing has worked itself loose.

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

IAC? If you kept your foot on the go-pedal, would she stay running (sounds like it wouldn't). Mine did the same thing about a month ago, but hasn't done it since. Usually, when the IAC is going, you can keep it running if you keep feeding the gas with your foot, but as soon as you back off, it'll die. I'm already on my second IAC, planning on the third soon.

Yep...if I kept my foot in it, it would stay running. I can't believe that I didn't think about the IAC.....IDIOT!!!

That is my next step. I am going to pull it off and check it out.

Thanks!!!

Re: Wouldn't idle....then it did....any thoughts???

This might be related to similiar problems I have had like that.
I got a answer last year and it seems to be true.
I can't remember exactly but it has to do with the computer and what the truck was doing just before you shut it off. Weather, cold, hot changes. Mabybe shutting off just after a hot run quickly, colder in the morn, etc.
I found by shutting it off and restarting it and or just let it run it straihtens itself out fine. It only happens once in a while.
But the truck has now about 50,000 and it run's like new.
Just little quirks that Ford has fixed by now or not.
Maybe someone has a ansewer.
Good luck
