x-springs

If I order a F-350,(4" rear blocks) V10, CC, 4x4 with the snow plow 5200 lbs. springs will the x-springs raise that closer to level to justify the replacement? Should I just add a 2.5" leveling kit? What about the warranty if you add a leveling kit?

Re: x-springs

The "X" springs are the springs that Ford uses when you purchase the snow-plowing pkg. The letter "X" is just Ford's designation for them. If you look at the door placard, you'll see that your current spring designation is "U", "W" or some other letter.

Because they are "stronger", the X springs raise the front of the truck by an inch or two. If you do a search for X spring, there'll be a ton of info including part numbers & installation instructions.

A word of caution: many report that the ride is noticeably more harsh with the X springs installed.

Re: x-springs

If you order the snow-plow package, this will give you the 6000# springs. Even if you don't plan to plow, GET this option. If you also order with trailer towing, I believe that the price is reduced due to a duplication of parts. The "X" springs, in my opinion actually improve the ride. My truck actually rides better than the wifes car. Plus, I have heard that other springs will sag over time leaving you with a droopy front end. With the "X" option, the truck sits nice and level. I have had my truck since october of 99 and it still rides good even at keeping my 265's at 70-psi year round. If you have further questions, please feel free to email me.

Re: x-springs

The X springs don't ride that bad. After all, you're in a truck with an 8800 # GVW, if it's an F-250. I prefer the ride in my F-250, which is X spring equipped, to the 5200 # spring option truck that I rode in. I would think that this is a "personal opinion" option though. Some people do not care for a firm ride, others do. SamC

Here is a link to a small web page that I created with pictures showing my spring swap on my 2000 F-350...
