Re: Are You HAPPY with Your V-10 SCMT Increase in Performance??? Is it "Night and Day" Difference??

I use the POWER PROGRAMMER III. I would venture to say the product is generally the same in overall design and concept.

I have done several mods and will tell you the PPIII brought the power back where I could feel the truck drive again.

I started with new wheels and tires. I felt the pedal power go away as heavier/wider tires pulled the truck into a power slump. I purchased headers and cut the factory muffler. I found a little power returned but not the snappy drivability of the stock truck. I put in the SONNEX VALVE and TRICUMMULATOR springs. Now shifting is great just no real pep in the throttle and accleration lagged. I bought the PPIII and she woke back up!! I was running the 87 octane rating and she didn't need any more. I can feel the pedal is back and runs great. I have since moved up to the 93 to check the MPG and see if there was a big difference. I have yet to find a considerable difference eccept my milage gets as high as 12.5 around town. This will depend on driving and it is hard not to run it out!!

I know this is long but wanted to give you an idea of how I knew that there was a added boost from the product I used. If you choose a programmer call the company to find out exactly what features you will get using their product. I was hoping to change my speedo and found the PPIII doesn't do that for my truck.

If your plan includes further mods I may suggest the others first and then a chip/programmer. The chip will allow for more exact tuning and you may see a greater overall benefit of power. A programmer is a great way to detune if you need to see a dealer later.

It is my understanding that the programming in the SCMT is far superiour to the PPIII (sorry, no offense Heavy).

If you have not been to the www.ford-trucks.com V10 forum, take a look there. Many users have reported their seat-of-the-pants impressions. I cannot give you my opinion as I do not have one. But my reasearch leads to me to the SCMT. I WILL have one this summer after I get the wifey a PSD Excursion...

I'm also waiting to read more about real results with the SCMT on the V10's. Would love to see 1/4 mile difference. Where is everyone who bought one?
