I've got my fingers crossed that it is a great show of support. You don't get much nicer than the track manager out there. Good luck to all!

2 trucks!

redrocket and I showed so a PSD took 1st and 2nd.

DHRA probably won't make it in Lubbock.

Some trucks were supposed to be coming from New Mexico. Snow I guess stopped them.

Re: Drag Racing in Texas 3/13

I don't think that will discourage Dennis. He said he is going to make it work. If you can, help him get the word out. It's got to start somewhere. We'll see what he says. Thanks for your support, your willingness to go means a lot!

Re: Drag Racing in Texas 3/13

EMcBride,

Are there any flyers I could put at a few places that might generate interest. If not would you mind me generating some? I would really like to get this going!

Re: Drag Racing in Texas 3/13

Yeah, I was expecting a bunch of guys from either Lubbock, Midland/Odessa, Amarillo, possibly DFW, but rooster and I were the ONLY ones. I will get with Dennis and see if we can jump-start something up here.

Re: Drag Racing in Texas 3/13

Everyone that tries to do stuff in TX seems to go about it in the worst ways. I very seriously doubt that they way things go that drag racing these trucks will ever be vey big at this rate. Something will have to change in a big way.

OK my first questions is why Lubbock, at least to start it??? Why not the DFW are or Houston area? That is where the vast majority of people and trucks are.

People are going to have to be assured that when they get there it is not a joke also. I know that there are some awesome get togethers and drag races with the diesel guys, but then there are a lot of flops. If you want someone to drive 4.5 hrs from dfw or 8-10hrs from Houston, it better be worth their while.

I would like to see it work here, but someone is going to have to put some serious effort into it.

Just my .02

Why don't you call where you race to sign on as a DHRA track?

As far as the first for the year it's just because Dennis of Lubbock Dragway signed on with DHRA and is having a DHRA class at every points race that he has. That's 13 races! If diesels show up. Heck I don't care if TDI VW's show up!

Re: Drag Racing in Texas 3/13

Hey Quad,
I didn't pick Lubbock, they picked us. The new member track series is incredibly successful, in that we send tracks a proposal explaining the program and the benefits and they contact us with their interest. The tracks set up and run the races using the DHRA rulebook, rather than DHRA running the races. We have 15 now and they are still signing on.
Lubbock had a poor turnout, but that will change, they are driven to make it happen. Houston is signed on, we are awaiting their schedule, we already have San Antonio's schedule up. TMP never showed any interest by returning any emails in regards to our member track, also I didn't want to interfer with ODRA in that area. I respect what they are doing and until I have time to meet/talk with the person that runs that, I don't want to step on any boots. To give you an example of different levels of success and how it is viewed; LACR had 13 trucks at their first race with NO advertising, Lubbock had two. Great Lakes Dragway has 32 members signed up already and they haven't had a race. It'll grow and I think the tracks are the best way to grow it.

Eric,

As you know and As I told you, I have tried and tried to contact them over at TMP(Texas MotorPlex) and talk to them about this. They won't return calls or letters, and the 2 times I have went there to talk to someone, there was no one there that had any POWER to do anything.

The ODRA has gotten a few races going at the Local 1/8th Mile Tracks including the Denton Dragway and Redline Raceway.

We as a club have been a few times and it is fun, but they are still oonly 1/8th mile tracks.

I really do hope that it gets going in this Area and This state big time.

As allways Eric, Remember I will try to HELP in ANYWAY I can. Just let me know.
