Re: MI, Ohio, Indiana residents...We need a rally too!

While I support the raceway concept, I think the important thing is to have a rally. If someone could do something like the east did with gauge installation or something of that nature where we could all learn it would be great. I am not familiar with the areas down next to the state lines. Looks like Beagle 1's orginal idea of Hooters is about the only thing going.

Re: MI, Ohio, Indiana residents...We need a rally too!

I agree, Just a rally at a nice large campground or park with some vendors and some how to demos would be great. Of course a few good BS sessions by the fire at night.

Beagle1 do you want to pursue the Hooters or the campground/park idea ??? Let us know yea or nea so somebody else can take over the initial steps if you can't. Thanks, Dave

There is a great place for a rally by me, just south of Grand Rapids. Say the word and I will look into it.

Re: MI, Ohio, Indiana residents...We need a rally too!

Dave,

Where were you thinking of? My sister lives in Grand Rapids and we frequently camp at Yankee Springs State Park. In fact we are scheduled to go there the first week of Aug.

Re: MI, Ohio, Indiana residents...We need a rally too!

The place is called Dome World off 131 at 84th St exit. It has a campground with full hookups/showers. Go cart tracks, batting cages, softball diamonds, beach vollyball courts, bar/resturant... I went to a company picknic there it is a very nice, clean, self sufficent facility with lots of room!! Motels/Hotels a couple miles away.

What do you think????

Re: MI, Ohio, Indiana residents...We need a rally too!

Dave,

From my perspective it sounds fine. If people were to bring kids it would give them a place to go for entertainment when they were sick of looking at trucks. (could that be so??) Would that be about an hour from the line? Just thinking of others that would come from Ohio or Indiana. Hope a few others respond to your idea..

Re: MI, Ohio, Indiana residents...We need a rally too!

dtosh-It is not looking good for me to do much! I baught a new house that is in Probate and the deal is really being drug out. I mean BAD! We were supposed to close 2 weeks ago and as it looks now it will be June 10th. The house needs a total overhaul before move in. That coupled with a new baby due in July has my hands tied now. At the time I posted the topic we were supposed to be getting ready to close and I figured I would be in by July 4th, baby due in middle of the month and planning a ralley would be no problem.

Now I must apologize for starting the discussion:O , and can only offer to help in any way I can. Sorry...

Re: MI, Ohio, Indiana residents...We need a rally too!

If the Rally is scheduled after September 17 we can probably make it. Before that, race season gets in the way. If the Rally has access to a track (drag or road course) where we can stretch the legs on the race car, more the better. The idea of a tour of IH in Indy with the Rally being held at Indianapolis Raceway Park would be very appealing.

Re: MI, Ohio, Indiana residents...We need a rally too!

I tried posting a reply earlier, but it never showed up on the page, well here goes again...

We would probably be able to attend a Rally if it were held after September 17. The racing season gets in the way before that date. If the Rally were held at a track (drag or road course) where our race car could stretch its legs, even better. Having a tour at IH in Indy with the Rally at Indianapolis Raceway Park (just west of town in Clermont) would be very appealing. And maybe a diesel tour of the 500 track?

Re: MI, Ohio, Indiana residents...We need a rally too!

Grayden,

I think you fell into the same trap I did. I have posted on here only to find my posting not there. By refreshing the screen it suddenly popped up! That is probably why you now have two posts in the forum.

It is starting to appear that this thread is dying. I hope some respond to Dave's suggestion or come up with one of their own.

I don't know what help I can be but I'm willing to pitch in where needed. I just don't want everyone to give up. I'll go where ever it's at.

Re: MI, Ohio, Indiana residents...We need a rally too!

I didnt read though all of these as I am at friends house currently, .... anyway any one interested in doing something in June? My current plans are to hoprfully go start driving 18 wheels about July 1. Guess I always could show up in something a bit bigger than a SuperDuty though later on. It would be nice to put a face to the names I see here all the time ....

I when "home" I am about 1/2 hour south of Peoria Ill.
