Re: MI, Ohio, Indiana residents...We need a rally too!
Okay, I'll step up to see about a Navistar plant tour if everyone thinks that is a good idea.
Be advised: Indianapolis is about 150 miles south of the Michigan line. With road construction, figure about 3.5 to 4 hour drive.
Who is going to be in overall charge?

Re: MI, Ohio, Indiana residents...We need a rally too!
Dave-I have been going to the U.S. Nationals for almost 8 years & for 8 years there has been constrcution in, around, or on the way to Indy. What's the story? I thought Michigan was bad!
As for a Rally there...cool! But I can't get involved organizationally from here(Detroit area). Too much on my plate this summer.
Re: MI, Ohio, Indiana residents...We need a rally too!
I've lived a lot of places but Indiana's DOT beats all. But it is the midwest and the freeze/thaw cycle plays havoc with the roads.
Maybe what we should do is have the rally this year in Michigan, and hold Indiana for a bigger rally based in southern Indiana where both the Louisville Truck Plant and the Brookville Road Foundry & Engine plant are within easy driving distance. Maybe if there are enough people attending, Indianapolis Raceway Park may be available.
Indianapolis does work hard at holding conventions and sporting events. Some basketball people are talking making Indy the permanent home of the Final Four. Literally scores of groups have their conventions here. There is talk of a Super Bowl. Oh, and those four little auto racing events. The problem is that such soirrees require a lot of planning. Maybe just keep it in mind for a national shindig. Maybe even an all-diesel convention. Indy would be good for that because when all the Ford, Dodge, and Chevy owners were strangling each other the IPD is good at busting heads.
Lets do Michigan this year. But we need a local organizer.

July would be tough with all the vacations that take place....I still think September would be better.. If someone wants to take the lead I can join in help out where I can..I have a pretty busy summer planned, but I can find some time to help out..

I am going to make contact with my connection to Milan. If he still has access I will post the info and look for Helpers. If not, we will need a plan "B".

Just a note on accomodations. I am not that familiar with the Milan area. Are there campgrounds in the area? I am sure there has to be a motel or two..
