For those of you who are interested. John has expressed interest in attempting to start a Rally in the North East.
What we need from you is:
1. Your Name
2. The City and State you live in..
3. A suggestion for a Rally location.(try to keep location within 20 minutes of shopping facilities {Malls}, and 15 minutes of decent hotel facilities for those who are not interested in camping.)
4. Suggestion for month of summer
5. If you are interested in helping out.
6. If so what are you willing to do to help out.
I have closed the Original thread that concerned the NE. So if you posted there please post here again.
Keith.

With all the closed threads, I feel like a dog chasing his tail. I think I finally found it!
John,
I e-mailed some info to you and don't know if you got it. I will paste it here for all to see.
----------------------------
John,
Stopped and talked to Jack Arehart from 1000 Acres Ranch this morning. If you want to have it here, we are in luck. He said the weekend of Sept 8, 9 & 10 is open. Seems a group reserved it (the whole ranch) and he hasn't heard from them since.
It is located 15 minutes from Lake George, he has 87 units that accommodate from 2 to 6 people each. There is an armload of campgrounds (easily 10 or more - 2 within 5 minutes) within 15 minutes for those who want to bring their campers/RV's.
He was real enthusiastic about it, and knowing Jack, he will go out of his way to help us. He has a car show from the Albany area that will be having their third show this year and he gave me the person's name to contact for ideas.
He has a 7 acre field adjoining the ranch, also on the Hudson River, which he uses for the car show. Rate for a room with 3 full course meals served family style is $95 per day. If we want, we can have a banquet for up to 300 people It is $20/person. The rodeo will be going, there is horseback riding, swimming, fishing (it is located on the upper Hudson River) and they have their own 9 hole golf course. It is in a rural area.
Facilities include a couple of pools, banquet room, full dining facilities, bar/lounge, food venders are available for our "expo" and on and on. If we want to charge admission or whatever, there is one way in and out, so it is easy to do.
The bonus is, it is located within 15 to 20 minutes of all the places I sent you on the trip planner.
Everything else I've checked so far is booked for every weekend.
Rich
-----------------------------
For a little background - I originally e-mailed John about the Lake George area. There are a lot of ammenities nearby, certainly more than you can cover in a month of Sundays. The only drawback is that most everything is booked around here a year in advance. The first weekend after Labor day is a good time, as most of the tourists are gone and there is a little more elbow room for those that want to check out the Million Dollar Half-mile of Factory Outlets, The Great Escape and Water Park, Water Slide World, etc.
I can e-mail a planner package I put together on NY's tourism website, if you are interested. Just e-mail me and let me know.
I offer it to the masses as an alternative.
Your opinion is requested. Too much? Too little?
TTFN

the lake george area is really great! i've been going there for the past 16 years for the americade motorcycle rally every june. there's plenty to see,do and lots of reasonable lodging and camping close by. after labor day would probably be best so the crowds are thinned out. count me in!
John,Lake George area is a good location, has a good proximity, members can run right up 87 from Pa.or down from Canada.Sept.[early] sounds good,i'm about 250mi.[5hrs. from Lake George].I'll do what i can from this area if possible if i can ,just email me. Joe
My name, city and state are not in my profile, so I don't want to state it here. My security clearance won't allow me to divulge my whereabouts for reasons of national security.
Other stuff:
Suggest Lake George region.
Anytime in summer is OK. August best.
Would enjoy helping out - can cook.
How about Closest City within 30 miles. We are talking landmarking not directions to your house.......
First \User Names will do for this poll.
I guess I should have stated that. Whoops. So much for trying to help out.
BTW I think Lake George would be great It is a great suggestion.
Keith

I'm probably in for this one. I don't care if I have to quit work to get the weekend off. Anytime this summer is great with me. I'll help out any way I can.

I think we should vote on a site and run with it! Lake George sounds good and I know it sucks to tow though it! Try driving a DM 800 Mack with 80,000# and see how the jump suits come out! Field day!
Keith, I just posted on the other thread and will e-mail you tonight after work.

Pablo, We went to Lake George last summer. Took the Mass. Turnpike (picked it up outside of Foxboro). It sure beats even attempting to go through Connecticut. I too would not mind trying a Maine/New Hampshire location.
