I just wanted to pass along some suggestions for those of you planning additional rallies for later on this year.
I think it would be good to continue with the regional rallies that many of you are interested in. By building up local interest, we can possibly expand to a national event in the next year or two. I already have my goal set to have one at the Kentucky Truck Plant first followed by one at the International plant where the Power Stroke engines are built. It's an ambitious goal, but the experience we are getting from the regional events will help us prepare for it.
Don't try to the plan the event all by yourself. It's tough to take care of everything on your own. By the same token, don't involve too many people in the planning.
Try and get a campground and hotel as close together as possible. Call ahead to both of them and see if they will block off an area or section of rooms for event attendees who pre-register. Make sure they have plenty of parking .. these are BIG trucks!
Contact as many vendors as possible. Those who attended the Texas and Virginia events report great success! The more vendors, the better.
Try and have nametages for everyone ready when they arrive. Some type of registration would be great so we would know exact numbers for attendees. Have some small gift for all the trucks that attend (sticker, pen, etc.) Door prizes for other gifts are also nice.
Make sure all the people know where and when each of the event's functions are occurring. Don't organize too much, leave enough free time that people can talk and do things on their own. Plan some technical sessions if possible .. many vendors would be glad to help with this.
My wife and I are going to attempt to attend as many as possible .. not just the closest one. It was very interesting to meet the people who use the website daily. We both had a great time!
For a rally at the Kentucky Truck Plant, my wife suggests having it the same weekend as the Kentucky Derby. I told her that the Derby folk would get angry having an event to compete with. Anyway, I promised I'd make the suggestion.

Just contact all the vendors you think would be interested in coming. Some probably won't if it is too far away, but more local ones might be interested.
One more thing I forgot to mention. Don't call your event "The X X Power Stroke Rally". Power Stroke makes it seems like you are leaving out all the other Ford diesel owners (10 years worth). Make it more inclusive if possible.
