2005 TTPA 8000 lbs. Diesel Truck Pulling Rules
1. These rules are in effect for one (1) year. TTPA reserves the right to adjust rules for fair play throughout the year. All general rules apply.
2. All competing pickup trucks must have current proof of insurance and registration (license plate).
a. Drivers entering vehicles in this class do so at their own risk.
b. All drivers must be at least 16 years of age.
c. Seat belts must be worn while hooked to the sled.
d. Driver may not leave vehicle with engine running.
e. If the TTPA rules may not address something want, do not assume you can make changes or additions. You will be DQ’D! Ask Permission first!
3. Tire guidelines:
a. Tires must carry D.O.T. numbers on sidewalls.
b. Tire height may not exceed 35”.
c. Tires may not be filled with any ballast.
d. Dual rear wheels are permitted.
e. No terra tires allowed.
4. Weight class is 8000 lbs. Total weight of vehicle and driver = 8000 lbs.
5. Hitch Guidelines:
a. Hitch point may not be more that 26” from ground.
b. Hitch point may be easily accessible.
c. Hitch must be stationary in all directions.
d. Hitch point must be no shorter than 48”, as measured from the centerline of the rear axle.
6. Engine Guidelines:
a. All engine blocks must have been manufactured or available as factory option on standard 1-ton or smaller pick-up trucks.
b. No engines swaps between manufacturers are permitted.
c. No aluminum engine block or heads are permitted unless OEM.
d. # 2 diesel fuel only.
e. Absolutely no propane, alcohol, nitrous oxide, or other oxygen extenders.
f. No water injection.
g. Single Charger only limited to maximum 2.8” inducer wheel. Chargers will be tech. checked.
h. Motor must be in stock location.
7. Transmission and Axles:
a. Transmission and axle must be in stock location.
b. After market transmissions or transfer cases are not permitted.
c. Rear springs must flex a minimum of 1”
d. Ladder bars are allowed.
e. All trucks must have Safety transmission blankets: (SFI. SPEC. 4.2), must have SFI. Transmission Blanket on Automatic transmissions or, SFI. Steel bell-housings.
8. Safety rules:
a. Each drive shaft must have a minimum of two (2) loops.
b. If the pickup has a shaft between transmission and transfer case, no longer than 24”, then one (1) loop, properly centered will suffice.
c. Loop material shall be made minimum of 5/16” steel or 3/8” aluminum, no less than 1” long loop.
d. Loop location to be no closer than 6” or no further than 12” from each u-joint loop.
e. Maximum shaft clearance to be 2” horizontally and 8” both ways vertical.
f. U-joints must be enclosed by a 360° shield, 1/4” steel or 3/8” aluminum at least 8” long center mounted around u-joint.
g. Must use at least grade 5, 3/8” bolts to attach driveline safety shields. If two piece shields are used, the tabs for the bolts can be no further apart than 6”.
h. A kill switch is required on all trucks. Kill switch will be checked when going across the scales at every pull. See general rules.
i. Vehicles entering the second scheduled event will comply with all safety rules.
9. All trucks:
a. Must have working brakes.
b. Doors must open and close.
c. Must have fire extinguisher in working condition within easy reach of driver.
10. Weights :
a. No front weights – period.
b. All weights must be securely fastened in pickup box. No weights allowed in the cab. NO EXCEPTIONS!
c. All trucks must have tailgate or cargo net.
d. If any weights fall out of your vehicle at the scales, pit area or on the track, the vehicle will be disqualified from competition.
