We just got back from the Virginia Rally and it was a big success. We estimate around 60 trucks (51 were in the show on Saturday with more driving around). Saturday afternoon, we had a nice chat session with seven people from Ford. We discussed future changes, problems, and new programs from Ford. I'll post a full report on what we learned later on tonight .. very interesting stuff.
To all the vendors who haven't come to a Rally yet, you don't know what you are missing! Western Diesel reports that they sold over a dozen exhaust brakes in Texas along with several chips. They completely sold out of chips this weekend and sold several turbo brakes. Bob Riley was there with a booth setup for Amsoil and Superchips. He had some nice displays and test equipment to show off his products.
Thanks to all who came to the Rally. We're planning to have the next one at the Kentucky Truck Plant if everything works out okay. Special thanks to Andy, Larry, John, and David for all the help in organizing the event.
I plan on posting an article about what we learned from Ford tonight and another article with photos from the event as soon as my film is developed.
We got to get you a digital camera. Developing digital film is cool!!!
Dick

Well, we have some at work, but they were all loaned out when I went to get one on Thursday! I'm going to go ahead and buy one soon. What model do you suggest? We use the Sony Mavicas at work, but the floppies only hold a handful of the high quality pics.
Just wanted to say that I had a great time at the rally. Everyone I met was friendly and seemed to be having fun. The view with all those Ford trucks out in the field in the semi-circle was awsome, not to mention getting to meet Jason and his wife.
I really enjoyed meeting and talking to Bob Riley as well as the guys at Western Diesel. I think they both represented their products in a friendly and professional way.
Hope everything works out so we can all meet again next year at the Kentucky truck plant.

Thanks Jason and members of Ford-Diesel.com its been a rough year so far and I really needed to get away, and then to meet so many friends it was really great.
Jason,
I second you comments on the rally. We had a great time and the group was tremendous. Having Ford reps there was truly a great feature. Watching them listen to concerns and suggestions from the group was great. I look forward to next year at Louisville.

As far as digital cameras I had the Mavica and thought it was great till the wave of cameras hit the market. My vote is for the Olympus. Got mine on the web at an auction site for 409.00 new not rebuilt. The clarity and quality is unbelievable. Way better than the Mavica.
Just wanted to say thanks to all who worked on putting this rally together, it was great. My family and I enjoyed the time spent with everyone there; we made a lot of new friends. It was great to put the faces with the screen names. My family and I are moving to Utah later this year and hope to get together with some PSD families out west and have another rally soon. Thanks, again you all. Bravo Zulu.
I was one that also bought a chip and TurboBrake from Western Diesel while at the rally. I had a great time playing with both of these on the way home. The brake is great for those long down hills, even around town I am using it. And the chip is out of this world. My son and I took the truck for a ride around town just to play an hour after we got home from a 5-hour drive home.
I also have a Sony Mavica and I think it’s great. It’s a lot easier to use with the built in 3.5 disk. Although it is only 640 X 480. But the 3.5 is so much easier to use than the smart media, memory sticks or flash cards. It holds about 20 pics. But Panasonic has just out did Sony, their new mega pixel digital camera (PV-SD4090) uses SuperDisks (LS-120, 120 meg disks) it will hold 450 high res pics on each disk which cost about $10 each, but you can also use regular 3.5 in a pinch. LS-120 drives are really cheap and read both the 120 Meg and 1.44 disks. If you don’t have a LS-120 drive the camera has a USB connection.

I bought a Sony Mavica MVC-FD71 last week. It uses an IBM-format 3.5" 1.44MB floppy. The book says one floppy will hold 25 to 40 standard jpeg 640x480 images, 15 to 20 fine jpeg 640x480 images, or one uncompressed 640x480 bitmap image.
This model is near the bottom of the line, with a 10x zoom and flash, and it cost $400 at a Sony outlet in an outlet mall in "upstate" New York not too far from West Point. They had cheaper ones for $200 and $300, as well as several more expenssive models.
So far I used it only to take a few snapshots of daughter and granddaughter. It doesn't take as good a picture as my $400 35mm cameras, but it's not bad. Now if I can just learn how to use the editing software to "doctor" the pictures to make them better.

Jason, I have had excellent luck with my Kodak DC260. So much so I now have a DC290. The quality is excellent and it uses Compact Flash memory. The DC290 takes shots 1792x1200. Plenty of detail for 8x10 prints. It also has a 2240x1500 mode. Jpeg is the normal format but it also has an uncompressed TIFF mode. The TIF file size is real big. Like 7+ meg/pic. At normal size of 1792x1200 the JPG file size runs 750K or so. I have a few 48 MB cards along with some other sizes and it gives me enough storage for all the pics I might take on a two week trip. A 48 meg card will give you about 70 pics at 1792x1200. Prices on that camera vary quite a bit but can be had real reasonable if you shop around on the Web. http://computers.cnet.com/hardware/0...078_401.txt.lp
I'll send you some shots I have taken on one of my trips if you'd like.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. We're going out looking tomorrow for a digital camera. I sent off 7 rolls of film tonight and ordered the Kodak Photo CD with them .. will save me a few hours scanning. Looks like the newer cameras have much better quality. I wasn't happy with some of the earlier models compared to a good film camera.
Othrhog,
If you have some really good ones, just e-mail them to me. Also, what was the name of that wax you were telling me about? I forgot it and didn't write it down.
