Report: 2011 Ford F-Series Super Duty Officially Debuts at Texas State Fair
As promised, Ford officially unveiled the 2011 F-Series Super Duty pickup at the Texas State Fair today. Truck-lovers have been anticipating this release ever since Ford announced that the Super Duty models would be available with an all new 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8. Unfortunately, Ford still hasn’t released any info on how much power or torque this revolutionary new motor makes.
In addition to the Power Stroke diesel option, a 6.2-liter gasoline V8 will also be offed. A new 6R140 heavy-duty TorqShift six-speed automatic transmission is standard for 2011, which has Ford's SelectShift function so drivers can choose gears just like on a manual transmission. This new tranny also gets a Tow Haul option with integrated engine exhaust braking.
Another amazing feature is what Ford calls Live Drive PTO (Power Take Off), which allows auxiliary equipment like snowplows or salt spreaders to be powered through the transmission. Ford is the first company to bring this technology over from agricultural machines.
Of course, the Super Duty will also get a long list of Ford’s impressive truck technology, like Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control, Trailer Sway Control, Trailer Brake Control and, of course, Ford's AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control.
In addition Ford will offer it's exclusive Ford World Solutions program which now comes with a 4.2-inch LCD screen between the truck's gauges, which will display relevant information to the driver about things like fuel-economy or the status of the fifth wheel hook-up.
Now if only Ford would release those diesel ouput numbers.
That's a beautiful truck!!!! However, I probably would wait until 2012 to get one because first year models always have some bugs. Hopefully this engine won't have problems like the early 6.0's.

I am very optimistic on the new 6.7 Powerstroke and here is why.
The New engine is designed and built by FORD for FORD and Ford is looking to win over the weak economy. The engine is a new design from bottom up and to fit in the FORD TRUCK. The Navistar / FORD romance was having problems and we all know that has bad results. Ford wants the truck to be superior to its competitors and with a new engine built by them, it can be.
Look at this video presentation and see the new engine and take it from there. I beleive this is just what Ford needed to do. Ford has built many diesel engines in construction field and they were and are FLAWLESS.
I have owned quite a few and speek from experience with them.

not much from this report as they really did not change much. the grill is a little bit too bulky. the inside is virtually the same as it was before, the cluster is little more fancy, but hey at least they were smart enough to bring back the oil gauge. and it appears one other smart move, if the truck shown is a king ranch, it has chrome bumpers instead of painted ones.
BAD MOVE IS THE NO MORE MANUALS AT ALL NOW. I told you guys it was coming. and more cuts are coming too. their goal is to have less and less options. it was not like this 10 years ago. and yes please someone chime in and talk about the manufacturing process, and how its so hard for them to build one this way and then another different. if anything it would be easier now to "multi-task" so to speak than it was 10 or 20 years ago. plus I have seen dealer inventory with only one digit off in sequence, and one truck is an xl, manual, long bed the next one in line was a different color, lariat, shortbed, this had a manual too as thats what i was searching for. they can build what ever they want, or should I say what ever we want(within reason). forget it ford, not going down that road anymore. I will run the one i have until too expensive to keep fixing and then its dodge for me. in many ways it will not be as much truck, and it won't be a ford, but it will be less money, and hey a ford is really not a ford anymore either.

I'm sure it will be a better truck than the 6.0 and 6.4 but I can't get past that Angry Transformer Tonka Truck front end look. The interior is great though, I would love that storage module in front of the console...it's just wasted space on my Lariat. I bet Ford is still using zerkless ball joints and U-joints though.
I'm another one that's not happy Ford is dropping the manual transmission. I know I'm in the minority, but I get more enjoyment out of my truck (and other vehicles with an M/T). I wouldn't be ready to buy in 2011, but the following year my 99.5 will be 12 years old and I should have 180K-190K miles on it by then. At that time I should be able to make a judgment whether the 6.7 is reliable, and whether the fuel mileage improves as much as Ford claims.
I'm hoping Ford reconsiders much like BMW did with the M5. My previous ride was a 95 SHO ordered with one of the few 5sp transmissions. Ford ruined the SHO in 96-99 IMHO, and after that the Taurus itself went downhill.
By 2004-05 I was ready to buy, but BMW had ended production of the E39 M5 with the 394hp V8 and the new E60 M5 didn't come out until 06 MY. Like a many American customers, I was unhappy that the M5 came only with the 7sp paddle shifted auto. M's had always been 5sp or 6sp M/T until then. I wasn't crazy about the 500hp V10, either. I would have been most satisfied with a 450hp V8. Finally, late in the 07 MY, BMW offered the 6sp M/T for North America only. That's when I purchased my 08. Unfortunately, with the V10, my fuel economy is worse in the BMW than my truck. Does go faster, though!
I hope Ford also reconsiders either in '11 or '12 and backtracks again offers the ZF 6sp or similar manual. I agree with the earlier post. It becomes easier every year to offer products on a configure to order basis, given the advances in ERP systems and other manufacturing software. Also, I sure if asked, the Ford marketing guys will tell you that the key to success in the marketplace is to be able offer a truck which is unique and custom in the eyes of the buyer.
In my judgment, Ford is going the wrong way by failing to offer meaningful choices for buyers like myself, while loading up the product line with a multiplicity of relatively meaningless frou-frou options. For example, while I have nothing against any particular trim level, is there really value in XL, XLT, Lariat, Cabella, and Harley Davidson trims cluttering up the option sheet?
If Ford is willing to reconsider their approach in 2012, they will have a willing buyer, ready to pay north of $60K for the truck he wants. If not, I hope Chrysler survives long enough the offer the Cummins with their 6sp as an option.
The new truck is looking pretty good. it seems, it might be the first decent truck since the 2002 model year. Since 03, it has been a diesel motor nightmare. Ford has handed over a boocoo of business to Dodge. Maybe, this truck will return Ford to the best in class. It has been a long time coming. Maybe, they will be able to pry me out of my 02.

Gosh, it looks like Im going to have to stay within 2000-2007 on ford trucks, and I love ford, that thing is hideously ugly. What were they thinking! What were they thinking with the 2008 trucks and the dumb badge in the middle of the tailgate...and what were they thinking on the front end of the 2008 truck!! AND NOW THEY LOOK WORSE, HOW DID THEY MAKE IT LOOK WORSE???

WOW!! at least one other person comented on the no manual deal now.
and some said it was hidiously ugly? I think they could have done a better job but i would not go that far. that ugly set up in the front allows for huge radiator and huge air flow to it. I have to say that was ahuge improvement over the 99-07 style trucks. I wish we would all get together and really send messages to ford about the things we want and do not want in trucks. maybe get them to actually do it. and further researchon this new truck has shown that the bumpers are still painted for the king ranch model. that is such a stupid move. they chip, scratch and just look beat up after only a year or so.

Hi, new guy here. Current 2008 Duramx/Alli owner. I can't wait for this new Ford diesel to come out. My 08 Chevy 3500 cab & chassis dually can't carry it's own weight around. At 10,200 lbs I have sagging suspension, driveline, and axle problems. The Duramax and Alli have been flawless but it's just not a heavy duty truck. I guess you could say it is not built Ford tough. This new ford looks very promising. Ford finally seems to be offering everything a truck owner could want. If you want something done right you've got to do it yourself, and they are. I think this new engine is going to put Ford back on target. I admire ford for not claiming bankruptcy, this has earned them my business when this new 6.7L comes out. My hard earned tax dollars went towards bailing out GM and I can't get them to actually fix parts covered under warranty on a stock truck.
definitely not thrilled about them being autos. i love my 6 speed and the 7.3.
man does that look good though. anything beats the interior of my 02 but still hesitant w/out the manual.

Thank you service men and women for fighting for our country.
I personally won't miss the stick, my industry (towing and recovery) has more and more auto's anyway. At least Ford is giving us a full manual shift mode. When you set it to manual mode, they claim it has a stick shift feel, and won't shift gears until you press the shift up or down buttons. Not the same I know, but a decent compromise for the low number of stick buyers.
