Exclamation Does the 2005 f350 6.0 have the good or bad motor? Plus Mods?

Just was told that everything before 2005 with the 6.0 was a bad motor.. and alot of recalls and what not have gone wrong with them.. I am getting my truck on tuesday and was just hoping to find out somethings.. hopefully positive things about the truck....

Also.. what would be a good programmer/chip to get.. and what can i expect for mpg on hwy?

POOR mileage and generally poor performance

I have a 1990 Ford F350 7.3 litre Diesel which used to be a U-Haul mover.

It gets 10 MPG at 65 MPH, gets around 8 MPG at 70 MPH, and 75 MPH is top speed.

I feel it should be able to get much better than that..maybe 17 MPG?

The exhaust has rusted through, so I need a new one, what replacement would improve power and mileage?

I was told there was a "chip" that would improve performance including mileage, where would I go to buy this chip, and what would I ask for?

I was also told this truck has a "govenor" which reduces performance and mileage, how do I remove or deactivate this device?

The truck needs tires..all 6 of them, I am not familiar with truck tires..what am I looking for?

There is no chip on or for these trucks - it is strictly mechanical controls (good thing, IMHO)

Any governor would be a U-haul addition, I think.

Your mileage sounds low....pretty much like a gasser...

My '73 with turbo, manual trans and 4.10 gears gets about 16.5 at 65...but these days I drive 55...

It may be that a combination of mechanical things being less than 100% that is causing the problem.

This was exactly the truck I was looking for...

now 278,000 miles & 6 yrs (factory reman engine @ 119K miles)
14.5 mpg @ 65 mph cruise control & AC

Casually looking for a good used overdrive....

Real trucks don't have spark plugs!
