03 f250 6.0 taking time getting into gear

Hi Everyone, New To The Diesel World, Just Got An 03 F250 6.0 Last Week, And As I Have Been Learning All Week Just By Reading Forums That I Need To Do The Egr Delete And Head Studs Asap!!!!
The Problem Im Having Is That When Im In Park And I Got To Put It In D Or R It Takes A Good Few Seconds Before It In Gauges, Sometimes It Even Kicks A Little Into Gear. Once Its In Gear It Shifts Great And Seems To Run Very Smooth, I Just Did The Trans Oil And Filter.
Any Ideas Before I Take It To The Trans Shop And Get Bent Over Would Be Great.
Thanks For Any Help And Looking Forward To The Diesel World.

Ps Its A 2wd Truck

I have an 05 6.0 srw crew cab and mine does the same thing. I changed the fluid and ext filter at 30,000 miles and it now has 34,000 and is still doing it. The truck shifts great driving but going from Park to R, or R to D it takes a too long to engage and I feel a small shimmy until it engages. I used mercon sp and racor filter and fluid level is correct. I heard it was a pressure regulator? Supposedly its a cheap part and only involves pulling the pan to change. Anybody know anything about whats going on?

my early 99 does this same thing. When you pull it from P to D you have to wait a second or 2 for it to engage, and then it locks into gear. I always thought this was normal, but now I start to thinking about it, it cant be right!
