04 6.0Blue smoke and surging during cold start????? Anyone? - Diesel Forum

Any body have any ideas what might cause this. It is an all stock 04 6.0 with 80k. When I start it in the morning it blows some blue smoke and feels like it idles low for a few seconds and surges and then clears up and runs fine. Any help would be app. <font color="blue"> </font>

my 04 did that too. I think a flash fixes it? Its normal for that engine.

Im not too familiar with "flash". How can I flash it? I am thinking of getting the Superchips programmer, will this help? Or un related?

A flash is simply a Factory computer reprogram for you PCM. Take it to any Ford dealer and they should be able to take care of you.

I am going to order the Super chips Tri tune Max Micro Tuner. Is this the SCT programmer that everyone is talking about?

if you are not using a synthetic oil,, you might try one oil change with either Rotella Synthetic of Mobil 1 Delvac (truck/suv) Most wal-marts are carrying these oils. Give it a try..

Only if it is the blue rotella, the white jug is the dyno(regular).
