6.0 chip/box ??????

Hey guy's,

Friend of mine has a 6.0(about 4 mos. old)wants to get a little more umph and is tired of getting spanked by all the 7.3's around I've helped mod.

He is not interested in adding gauges, exhaust, intakes, ect. Is there a box out, say 60 hp or so, that would be safe to run with no other mods??

Thanks in advance guy's

Greg

Re: 6.0 chip/box ??????

Absolutely! We offer a non-adjustable module that is 70hp and 155 ft lbs of torque. This is great whether he is towing or wanting fuel mileage. It also runs pretty darn good. This is the perfect install, and forget module to have.

If I can help let me know!

Thanks,

Quad

Re: 6.0 chip/box ??????

If you did the number on all those 7.3's, why couldn't you mod the 6.0?

Thanks Quad!

GWA,

I can do anything , The problem is, HE doesn't want to add anything other than a chip/box

Don't worry, if he gets anything, I'll have to put it on for him

Re: 6.0 chip/box ??????

I rode in a 6.0L with one of the adjustable Quadzilla boxes on it, it was pretty impressive.

Re: 6.0 chip/box ??????

Dockboy,

I have been running the Edge Juice three position module on my 6.0 and really love it. It has 40, 70, and 100 HP levels at the flip of a switch. Your friend can just leave it on the 40 or 70 level and if he uses any common sense it will be OK egt wise unless he tows a lot of weight. We have been them and have been impressed, it really helps the low end as compared. I have dynoed it and got over 110 on it to the rear wheels when we were doing some exhuast work last month. Typical of Edge, they under rate their products HP and torque wise as a general rule, so getting more than they state is pretty run of the mill. Cal us if we can help you.

Re: 6.0 chip/box ??????

Mark,
That sounds great, but why would you want something that was only 110hp? Our average dyno results have been in the mid 120's.

But I guess if 110 is enough, well ok.

Not to mention our new module where you could tow on high mode and set the defuel monitor and never exceed your pre-set egt's!

Re: 6.0 chip/box ??????

Dockboy,

Your friend should really consider getting a gauge or two put in so that he doesn't accidentally cook something. At least have him put in a pyrometer so he doesn't cook his turbo.

If you souped up all those 7.3's, then you should be able to understand this and make this point to your friend. Just a suggestion...

Happy Truckin,
Brian.

Re: 6.0 chip/box ??????

Edge has the Juice box for the 6.0L and you can get some information about it on our website http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/chips Of course it is still recommended to have gauges, large exhaust and air intake to get the most out of the box.

I guess it's up to him, but I also would be pushing real hard for him to at least put in a pyrometer and big exhaust. The way he's going about it is bass-ackwards. FIRST free up and monitor the exhaust, THEN put the juice to it. Re: 6.0 chip/box ??????

The pipes are the most important.
You gain a lot of relief by chopping off the stock muffler and adding the 4" system.
Not to diminish the gauges because they are just as important, but you buy a ton of EGT elbow room with the pipes.

GWA, Did you order your DPPI CAT back yet??
It's going to make cruising a lot more fun!

Hey, waddaya think I am, some slou- well, AAA-hum, uhh, actually, in point of fact, now that you mention it, no. Not YET, anyway. But now that I've gotten a verbal kick in the behind I might have to. Actually, I'm gonna do it, but I had some other obligations to nail down. I want it sooooooo baaaaaad . I guess I ought to just DO IT.
Went in pretty easy, huh? OH- Where's the best place to employ the ol' Sawzall, just behind the muffler, or further rearward?

Re: 6.0 chip/box ??????

Quad,

Oh I don't know, just cause it's a bunch of fun I guess. I'm not into racing just good reliable power and safe performance within reason. Some of our dealers have seen as much as 120+ on the Edge and I just prefer to rate a product in a forum like this at it's promised to deliver HP and not the occassional high that a dyno spits out. Kind of like their EZ for the Dodges, they are rated at 65 hp and always exceed 75 to 80+. As you know I'm sure anyone with a little time on a dyno can get it to read a lot hgher than the real world will ever see. It would be real interesting to see your dyno charts with those averages, you know, where the peak HP was attained at what rpm etc. If you get a chance scan them and post them, always good to get new and more positive info on the 6.0 toys.

I figured you were aware of Edge's "Monitor" that will allow you to monitor the EGT, boost and set a defueling function at any pre set egt temp, it's due out the end of the month. There are some other functions it will control as well but I'm not totally informed on all it will do at this time. It is provided with a thermocouple and just plugs into the pre existing wiring block in the 6.0 Juice module. Have a good one!
