Aftermarket MPG gauge or display?

My 2005 F250 Lariat did not have the "information center" option installed apparently. Bought it used for a great price, so not complaining. I am very interested in displaying relatively accurate MPG ("miles per gallon" for search engine keywords) in some sort of gauge or display.

Any aftermarket options that someone would recommend? Could the information center thing be ordered as a part and wired in?

Thinking of the SCT x2 tuner rather than spending hundreds more on a LCD display model, but still open to suggestions on that as well -- but please focus on the MPG display feature rather than performance stuff of tuners, thanks!

Re: Aftermarket MPG gauge or display?

Look at the Scangauge, It simply plugs into the diagnostic port, and will display everything the factory overhead will except for outside temp. plus lots more. I have one and find it displays close to factory overhead, which I cannot see because of angle it is a glare. The scangauge seems accurate when compared to manual mpg calculations. Also shows speed, avg speed, rpm . Goggle scangage and it will show everything.

Re: Aftermarket MPG gauge or display?

For the scangauge, should it be configured as DieselA or DieselB? Seems to be DieselB but is about -10% off the calcs for MPH, MPG, etc.

Re: Aftermarket MPG gauge or display?

Called up ScanGauge. Was told to use DieselA setting as DieselB is for a few older Mercedes Benz models.

Re: Aftermarket MPG gauge or display?

I put it right on the dash below the A pillar with a little piece of velcro, seems to be doing well there. Rand the cable from the OBDII port under the rubber floormat and in the groove of the dash panel up the side. Looks pretty good there, can see it out of the corner of my eye and does not obstruct. I run it pretty much constantly in the "gauge" setting with "RPM, MPH, MPG, GPH" viewable in real time.
