Air Intake Systems; cooler perfornace

I have an '05 6.0 Powerstroke and thinking about adding an AFE 2nd stage system. From some of the threads I've read there is little or no performace gained with this addition. I currently have the Edge Attitude with Juice and 4" exhaste system. I've heard that while you may not see significant gains with this addition as opposed to stock, the an air intake would help reduce exhaste tempertures. Can anyone confirm this?

45acp,

Hey looks like your a fellow shooter by your site name!

The AFE STAGE II will make HP but not the sotp kick in the head a module will do etc. On a stock truck you'll feel it. But that's not the reason to buy one, get it for air flow and lower EGT's! Plus the Pro Guard 7 AFE will stop the dirt the 4 and 5 layer filters let into the engine. An engine is an air pump, you add fuel to make it POP. More air equals more POP because you can add more fuel and still get full combustion with more air, same with exhaust there is some HP there but it's mostly to provide a lower EGT so you can use the HP a module makes and keep egts safe. Call us if you have any questions etc.

Re: Air Intake Systems; cooler perfornace

Keep the factory air intake, it is very good filter system. If you want to lower EGTs consider a repalcement intercooler like the Banks system. It really helps when it comes to towing.
