All over the place about tuners

I've been reading threads that give info that's all over the place.

I want to get a tuner that wil maximize efficiency in my 04 X 4x4 (born on 10/03). It is currently stock. The most I tow is a 6500# camper a few times a year.

The mods I want to do are gauges, 4" turbo back exhaust and a tuner.

What tuner will give me the best mpg possible? Edge platinum / ID SCT / other?

Thanks!

ID custom tuned SCT...doesn't get any better than that, and can be alot of fun too..

for daily driving, the most powerful tunes give the best mileage gains...

Eric writes great tow tunes also...

I'm hitting 100K on my 03 and want a little better gas mileage and just a little more power. I also want gauges and 4 inch exhaust for the truck. My ride is totally stock.

What mileage increases did you see with the tuner? How has these tuners been on transmssions as of late? I remember reading something a while back something stating that the trans can only take about 40 more hp safely before losing it longevity.

Oh, what does ID stand for? Innovative Diesel?
Thanks.

Its not so much the amount of hp added that wares the tranny down, but more of how that power is applied... SCT has it down because the shift timing and defueling points are perfect, and it basically applies power at all the right points in order to give you maximum safe efficiency without jeopardizing your tranny... I have had an Edge plat/ juice w/attitude, a banks six-gun w/ pda, Bully Dog t-dog power pup, and the SCT... Above all the SCT is right there with the banks, and the bullydog is the worst by far... Edge is good for power but you gotta set the safety parameters or you screw up your truck big time... Like I said banks and SCT are both safe and give alot of power, i noticed more mpg gain with the SCT, and i also like it because its a downloader and i can use my boost fooler with it (you cant use a boost fooler/builder with a tuner or module, it has to be a downloader)...

By the way my friend also has an 03 and he had an Edge in it for a while... It gave a good amount of power but it was eatin his tranny up... He took it out and put an SCT in there and the tranny stoipped slippin and grindin and felt brand new... SCT is by far the best chip for the money IMHO, but if you want a tuner then the banks is also good...

* And yes, ID is innovative diesel... sometimes IDP (innovative diesel performance)
