I know this is an older thread but I am new to this site and looking for info. What kind of oil are you guys using? Would I benefit more with double bypass filters? I am planning on doing this on my 05 6.0

Doesn't the hose make it harder to change the factory filter?

I would say so, I have a set of quick disconnects on mine. Disconnect the hose spin the cap off change the filter and your done with the top part. My filter is and old discontinued Frantz system it holds a roll of paper towel and an extra gallon of oil. The oil doesn't stay clear but its close and analysis always come back good. I change the paper towel roll every 5K and the oil every 10K with good results that's probably over kill but it works for me. By adding a gallon of make up oil back in your getting a mix of additives and non sheared oil added back.

Looks like a real nice installation job. I have been doing research on the Ams Bypass Kit, Glad to hear some feed back of other ppl using it. I have heard a lot about the fs2500 but it is a lot more expensive than this kit. JHamblin, Can you tell me how big the hoses you had made were and the diameter. I like your install and probably will copy your idea. Can you please let me know. Thanks a lot for your time! I know Bill from Powerstrokehelp.com gives you an installation idea under the hood, but I like it being on the rail better.

What is your definition of "harder", 10 seconds, 10 minutes, or 10 hours?

The QD on the oil filter is in the 10 seconds class.

ETA: I have the Amsoil bypass filter using the Oilguard oil filler and oil filter caps. Pretty much the same as those pictured above.

Does that look like it is in the ten second class? Looks like threads and teflon tape to me!

Hey Eveyone

New to posting on here, read this forum for years though for all the good information.
I am sold on the bypass filter system after watching all the videos on powerstokehelp.com. Looking to get both my trucks setup on it ASAP. Prefer to get my 06 F250 done first since it has about 60k on it.

This looks like the number one way to extend life on the 6.0.

Tom

I'm not being an ass, mine takes all of 10 seconds to unscrew the JIC connector on my setup and get on with changing the filter, 10 seconds to install when done. If someone used connectors that requires teflon tape (i.e. NPT threads), bad design, IMO.
