What size is the hydraulic hoses since I will copy your style of installation? Pipe and hose sizes have always been confusing to me
Thanks
Ken

looks pretty sweet and sure is a clean install as well. What material is the blue oil filter cap made out of? Also how many miles are you putting on between changes?

Most of my driving has been highway miles (42 miles roundtrip every day) The hoses that come with the system are ridiculously inadequate, so I had to go to an hydraulic hoses store here in Southern Cal and have some braided stainless steel hoses made especially for this application. They really look good and are rated at 500 psi.:thumb: Prior to sending my oil sample off, I was running Amsoil 15W40 motor oil with the Amsoil EaO88 oil filter, and the Amsoil BMK-11 bypass oilf filter. They maintain that their bypass filter will work at 98% efficiency down to 2 microns particle size..........................we all know that over 60% of engine wear is caused by particles that are between 6-15 microns in size. Guess I'm about to find out (when the report comes back) if this system is all it's advertised to be. At any rate, here are some photos of the system in place. The bypass filter is mounted down under the truck on the framerail on the passenger side.

Your system install is super. Your concerns that the hoses are inadequate may be an over statement yet your lines look much better these hoses are a very good quality.
I have a 7.3 and the hoes are on my truck are what came with the kit.
I am very happy with Amsoil system. I did have to add some plumbing insulation to stop a vibration from the oil pump i could here in cab.

AMSOIL: The Jury Has Returned With A Verdict.......
Gentlemen,
As per my promise, the results are back from the oil analysis...........after 18,000 miles, I'm told that the OIL WAS STILL GOOD.
As I said earlier in the post, I've already changed the oil, but man does it feel good to know that I could've run it even longer!
I've included a scanned image of both sides of the Oil Analysis report. You guys can now scrutinize the hell out of these results and make decisions accordingly on your own rigs.
I found it rather interesting that the anti-wear additives and dispersant-detergent additives (magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, & zinc) were still pretty good after 18,000 miles......
Also of note was the fact that the iron numbers were within normal limits (29); don't know what the normal range is, but my oil analysis did not say that it was high.
I have to say, in all honesty, that I'll feel a lot better when I take the next oil samples and send one to this lab (Amsoil affiliate) and the other one to Blackstone Labs. I'd like to compare the two and see if they come to similar conclusions regarding the condition of the oil.

Back 6+/- years ago Bob Rielly compared AMSOIL and BLACKSTONE test methods. I cannot find this information but at the end both test samples were good for service.
But Bob explained the different types of test done by the two companies. So my point is the two samples will not be apple to apple but in both cases you should continue to have good test results.
In my case when I had a 1999 Z71 I had a AMSOIL test come back with bad results and I should change oil if not already done with filter change. What a surprise but a little more research with Lab help I had a AIR Filter leak (gap) caused by your truly. Problem solved.
Maybe someone else will recall Bob R's comments and find.
Ken
PS: I would still like to know the size of your hoses?
Thanks

Lab Report
With my very little experience in lab reports from Blackstone is they did not seem to completely recognize the extended oil drain concept. Meaning as your oil drain is extended your metals will increase as and your Additives will go down somewhat and you need a balance to continue extending your oil each time. This has to be in balance with knowing your by-pass system is filtering to at least 3 microns level knowing this any particles in your oil is not necessarily harmful with a few exceptions like silicon (this is like sand or carbon in your oil this is very harmful) which I to had a filter issue and the oil sample brought it to my attention. I change the filter and the silicon went down not enough for me I drained and started over.

So for all intents and purposes, you have right at 30,000 miles on that oil sample, and it's STILL GOOD-TO-GO! I sure hope I can get those kinda numbers on my next sample.

Hey Ken,
I FINALLY found the information on the hoses: I used two 8-ft pieces of Nos-4 braided steel hoses.............I had them specially made at a place called "The Hose Man" here in southern California

Thanks for sharing the Pix and information

advantages
So I'm guessing that the major advantages to this system is less wear and less money spent on changing oil? I'm not a motor head, so I need it spelled out! haha

You are real close the fact no mater what by-pass system you use is a improvement over the oem filter by reducing the size of the partials in your oil is how you reduce wear and extending oil drain.
I have had the fs-2500 and now have the Amsoil dual-by-pass and after having both I believe Amsoil out preforms all of the others. Remember removing the soot out of our oil is the most important additional filtering can never hurt IMO.

The report does look good. Just watch the viscosity. In that report your oil had sheared down to the low end of a 30 weight oil. In that aspect I do not agree that the oil was good and you could go further...
