The Ford diesel mechanic that just did my ARP studs told me that he replaces about 3 EGR coolers per DAY!
ALso, most posts on here are about problems with the EGR cooler or EGR valve.
It makes it easy to figure out what you need to do if you want your truck to be much more durable.
My buddy just had to play traffic cop for 2 hours when his truck broke down because of the EGR cooler failing. His family had to stand in the sun next to a busy highway while they waited for the tow truck.

Yeah, the EGR Cooler and valve are just as big of problems as the head gaskets are. My EGR cooler started leaking about 400 miles from home...I drove the steam engine home
Other problems are sticky turbo veins, which seems to be cured by actually working the truck (at 150k when my turbo let go it was nice and clean and had never been touched), and the injectors getting sticky.
