Re: Anyone chip their 6.0?

Hi guys,

Cool reading. Just have a question: Is anyone seeing any "negative" tranny behavior while at WOT with a fuel box set on high? Any bad shifting, slipping, etc??

I was talking to Brian at BTS and he was telling me he already has a bolt on TC replacement for the Torqshift should the power levels start getting waaaaaay up there.

Re: Anyone chip their 6.0?

We are over 500rwhp with the stock convertor! So far no problems. I know Suncoast has done some in the past and I am sure they have to be better than stock, but I prefer to see how strong the stock one is. We haev no shifting problems or slippage to date!

Re: Anyone chip their 6.0?

T/C is a Torque Converter. Usually the first thing to get eaten by a higher powered diesel engine.

QuadBoenker,

You ain't gonna believe this, but I've been told by a pretty reliable source that the Torqshift T/C ain't much heavier-duty than the 4R100 TC.

I know I'm gonna get my dead corpse dragged through town for saying that, but the source is VERY credible. The same source did also say that the Torqshift had many improvements over the 4R100 from the T/C on back, though.

Makes me wonder how yours is holding so much power and out 4R100 T/C's get eaten over 350HP

Glad to hear your engine upgrades are coming along so well. I hope to be a customer someday!!

I too talked to my dealer about a chip/programmer. He told me they don't have a problem with them as long as they don't cause the problem you're bringing the truck in for.

What they say and what they do MAY be two different things when a $2500 motor is involved !
It's probably not in your best interest to leave any go fast stuff on when going in for service... Why create a possible issue ?

How long does it take to install and deinstall your module Quad?
10 minutes - 15 minutes ---- time well spent !

Quad...
meant to call last week to come by, but have been VERY busy getting ready for a potential work stoppage - willl try to call next week...

Re: Anyone chip their 6.0?

I'll bet the motor costs $10,000. My dealer who I know for 15 plus years does not have a problem but he says the service manager is a boy scout and to take the Quad box out if I have to bring it in for service.
