Anyone try the aem intake?

I see one internet seller is advertising impressive hp gains with this intake. They claim in house testing of all products. I have tried other intakes with no improvement over stock and I am skeptical.

Re: Anyone try the aem intake?

What dealer is this? I'd be interested in seeing what kind of gains the intake made.

Re: Anyone try the aem intake?

rpmoutlet.com. I see they also claim gains from throttle body spacers for gassers, which makes me even less inclined to believe them. If anyone can promise me even a very small performance gain over the stock intake, I will buy it. Testing performance gains at the dragstrip. My truck is an 04 f350 6.0.

Re: Anyone try the aem intake?

I am very interested in trying the DRYFLOW synthetic fiber filter from AEM as it does not need to be oiled. I live on a dirt road so am constantly needing to clean my filter. I had a drop-in K&N filter on my '97 and the cleaning kits get expensive when buying several per year. I also always worried about under- or overoiling the filter. I was hoping AEM's new filter would help my problem. I have upgraded to an '05 so am considering the whole intake system. The Ford set-up seems to not seat correctly on my truck. I am worried I am pulling in dust. Has anyone tried the Brute Force intake kit? How hard is it to install? Does it seal well so that it is only drawing cold air and not engine compartment air?

You might want to hold off on your purchase until the next issue of Diesel Power Magazine comes out. They will be testing all of the big name intakes and will include an article showing comparison results.

Re: Anyone try the aem intake?

Check out the MAC intake, it has a 6 inch ID filter. I think they claim a hp increase on their web site. It performs better than AFE Stage 2 according to my "seat of the pants" meter, and no annoying CEL.

I like the way it performs with my Zoodad mod. I have the 6 speed manual, so I am constantly reving through the gears. My truck revs up faster and smoother with the MAC intake.

Re: Anyone try the aem intake?

I just put mine on tues. and I like the fact you dont have to oil the filter. I also bought the pre-filter so I dont have to clean it as often. I like the aem set up over the AFE stage 1 it gave me more turbo noise, it feels as my truck likes this cold air more than the afe and I like that its a metal tude instead of plastic.
