Ats 5r110 Trannie

I just bought a new ATS Billet Trans with a 5 disk converter. Just wondering if the bad rep that ATS has had in the past has gotten any better? My 06 CC dually has 92k on it now and I tow most of the time with it. The only reason I bought the trans was the great price. I would think with a 5 year and 500k warranty they would go broke if past problems were not fixed. The truck has a 5 inch exhaust with an AFE intake and a SCT 2 tuner. I also just did head studs and an EGR delete. It runs great and is easy on fuel. The SCT has Inovation tunes and is set on a tow tune right now. HP and TQ should not be the issue with the trans, and I am easy on her as well.

I have an ATS trans (4R100). it has been good to me.....But if it were to give me problems, then know that I know I would go to John Woods, just because he is close to me(SOCAL), and has a great Reputation. If I Lived up north then BTS would get my service.

The one thing I dislike about the ATS trans is that to keep it under warranty you must change the trans fluid ever 10,000 miles, which in my opinion is to frequent.

With the deep pan, double trans coolers my oil rarely gets to 160 degrees, most of the time it stays about 20 degrees over whatever the outside air is. My Trans fluid always looks great, bright red and no smell ever. I have had the trans going on 3 years and about 60k miles.

Hope this helps.

Just a quick update. The trans so far has been good as gold. I am getting ready for a complete service on the truck including a complete trans flush and new filter. I am going to drop the pan and clean it as well. I did go with factory ford fluid from the startup. It just keeps shifting better and better.

Be Safe
