I had a torque lock on my 7.3 with the 4R100 and it worked great. The autolok is different in that it does not have manual switches to control the T/C lock up like the torque lock. I also have a 03 like you and can't stand the T/C lock up since the last flash. I am waiting for a manual override switch for the T/C to become available (like the torque lock). Going to call BD again and see. Quad is supposedly working on a stand alone tranny box, but no info available yet as to what it is going to do, or how it is going to control it, (I want manual) maybe in a month or two.

Re: Autoloc torqloc trans control?

I can tell you how to install a manual lockup switch like on your old 7.3. You can manually lock the converter whenever you want.

Let me know if interested...

Re: Autoloc torqloc trans control?

SD04250

The benefit is that it will keep the T/C locked. The 03's (don't know about other years) after the december flash will unlock the T/C every time you let up on the go pedle. This is a big problem when towing, because it won't relock very easy (You need to be flat and level not acelerating). The problem with this is when towing on a hill and you let up for a second then get back in it, the T/C will stay unlocked for the rest of the hill. Or if going down hill and you let up to maintain speed it unlocks, (even in cruise) then if you roll right into another hill it won't relock. So when towing 10K lbs. at 65MPH I end up pulling a lot of hills at 3000 RPM or so. This was not like this when new, but only after the December flash. Also, it was not advertized this way, but it is what I got.
