Average EGT?

I installed a glowshift EGT gauge yesterday and tested without load. At 65 mph with cruise set I get 7 psi boost and EGT runs around 950. does that sound about normal?

Re: Average EGT?

Sounds high to me. Yesterday, I pulled a 3 mile, 6% grade with our trailer and didn't see over 925*. However, based upon your sig, you don't appear to have the mods that would help reduce EGTs. Even with no mods I don't think you should see EGTs that high.

Re: Average EGT?

Sounds high to me too. I used to get 800 degrees at 70-75mph on level ground before a couple of mods. The Zoodad mod dropped my EGT 50 degrees alone. I run about 900 while towing my 39foot toy hauler fully loaded.

Re: Average EGT?

I pulled the 24' gooseneck today and temperature @ 65mph was around 950. Outside temp. was around 90 with fairly high humidity. Don't know just how much that will have to do with it. I think one reason is the probe is right in line with #8 cylinder port. It was very difficult to find a more suitable place for the probe. I am not sure where other people have there's but as I say this one is almost in the cylinder port. Idling it is around 400.

Re: Average EGT?

Those temps do seem a little high for running unloaded at those speeds. Running those speeds I see 800-850, and I'm on 38's. I do see that you're running a Diablo. Those tunes are gasket roasters. I'd run a lower program and see what the temps are at then the stock program. Tonight on the way home I was running 700-750 at 55mph. Do those things then re-post and we'll see.
