Banks big hoss bundle

Is the banks big hoss bundle a GOOD product?
Does it void your warrenty?
I like it for all the features, but it seems that an sct is just as good. but you still need a intercooler and all the other things to go with a sct that the banks kit comes with right?
I want something reliable, but powerful!!! not something I need tranny work and alot of other stuff. can someone help me out?

Re: Banks big hoss bundle

Basically if you add HP to your engine you are more than likely going to void your warranty... I think the banks stuff is pretty good it gives you a decent increase in power and i think it is relatively safe.

Re: Banks big hoss bundle

Banks seems to add a good bit of power and has some nice features but is way overpriced.
You don't have to buy an IC for SCT,Banks or any other similar product but if you want one, go for it!
If you want max hp/tq, SCT is the only way to go. If you plan on injectors in the future, you must have an SCT.
You could buy a Banks IC, an SCT, and some gauges lor less than 2 grand. The IC costing about $1200.
The choice is yours, but from what you say you want your truck to do, SCT would be the best choice

Re: Banks big hoss bundle

Call Banks sales. I have talked with Jeff. He suggested to me that I don't "need" a big hoss...Save my money and get the
Six Gun Bundle. Banks recommends the IC for those towing more than 6k. You would get lower EGT's with the IC. Banks has probably the safest packages out there. I'm sure some here will argue that point.

After much research, I will be going with SCT, MBRP and outlook gauges.

My dad has the Six Gun on an '03 7.3 and absolutely loves it!!!

Re: Banks big hoss bundle

I agree with going for the SCT. It is almost unlimited with what you can have adjusted by using the SCT for example: idle speed, shift point and firmness, and that doesn't scratch the surface. I may be wrong, but I don't think the big hoss bundle controls the tranny like the SCT does, and thats what can save you big money because a tranny job for these trucks is probably more than your upgrades. It also helps get the turbo spooled up quicker. The guys at Innovative Diesel could pretty much get your truck to do anything you need (within reason) by emailing you your tune. That still blows my mind that I got an email from ID and a few minutes later, my truck is leaving ricers at the light!

Re: Banks big hoss bundle

Does the sct let you shift on the "fly" like the banks does?
I like the idea of driving around stock and when its time touch a button and BOOM!!! POWER!!!! not driving around burning fuel for no real reason. I dont tow much just a trailer with my jeep maybe once every couple of months. I have a dually cuz I wanted one cuz there badass not really to pull so towing isnt a big concern for me.

I've been thinking about the SCT also ....but i do tow.In the summer i tow my 5th wheel alot.I'm not look'in for massive power just a good towing tune and some better mileage(if possible). Can SCT do that without "trash'en" the motor or trans.

Re: Banks big hoss bundle

I had quads race box and when i changed form stock to 160 the shifting was crap. the SCT you can relaod a lesser program and still be the same. i never got consistent shifts even with tring to learn the tranny. SCT rules!!!

Re: Banks big hoss bundle

Therein lies the difference. Any of the tuners can make power, but only the SCT shifts well.

Re: Banks big hoss bundle

I know I will probly get slammed on here, but I have the Banks kit on my 04 F250. I have the exhaust, intercooler, intake, and six gun. I just put it on this weekend. I bought everything used and paid probly $1400. I like the banks kit so far and the tranny shifting is good so far. I do realize it is expensive and I would not have bought everything brand new because of that fact. I also had ARP head bolts installed in the truck when they had it apart for a warranty issue. Thats my opinion on the banks stuff.

Re: Banks big hoss bundle

Does the sct let you "shift on the fly", like the banks or edge?
I dont like the fact or driving around burning fuel for no reason.
I want to drive around and when its time hit a button and BAMM POWER!!
If it doesnt can you have a tune thats stock up to half throttle then after half throttle POWER?
And If I do a muffler delete can I run a sct without gagues? I dont tow I just have a dually cuz they look badass!!!
Any help would be great!!! thanks in advance guys!!!

Re: Banks big hoss bundle

The high HP programs will burn less fuel than stock if you drive the same. If you run a high horsepower setting, a turboback exhaust is recommended.
