Banks Techni-cooler benefits?

I am looking at getting the Banks Techni-cooler intercooler. Has anyone heard of what the benefits of adding just this intercooler would be. EGTS, horsepower, torque?

Re: Banks Techni-cooler benefits?

I was thinking about doing the same. Called Banks and they quoted me $1300 for the intercooler, mounting hardware and tubes.
I'll have to a significant gain in performance before I'll throw that kind of money down for one.

Re: Banks Techni-cooler benefits?

Taddl... I'm really looking forward to hearing your dyno results on the banks intercooler.... what are your general impressions of it so far? do you have dual alt's? if so... do the new tubes clear them? what about the clearance on the tubes in other places.... do they rub any where? And does the new intercooler fit in to the stock location nicely?

Re: Banks Techni-cooler benefits?

I was on the phone with banks. I didn't ask them about the kit fitting with dual alt's or not but they said that the new intercooler and the high ram inlet will lower the egt's on a 6.0L significantly.

I finally received my Banks IC last week! I've got pre/post intake temp probes installed and will be doing before and after testing. I will be logging Ambient Temp, EGT, Pre/Post Intake Temp at several different engine speeds and loads to determine just how well the Banks IC does.

Also, my truck has Dual Alts, so I'll be able to let you know just how well it clears those as well. I just need the time to get the testing done so I can make the swap!

Re: Banks Techni-cooler benefits?

Sorry that I have not relied yet. I actually ended up installing the intercooler in a 7.3 truck this last week. I am going to reorder another IC and will give dyno info when it is all finalized.

RRose,

Yes, the Banks intercooler tubes will clear both alternators.

And the intercooler fits exactly into the stock intercooler location.

I have a 2004 6.0L w/ Dual Alternators and the full Banks Big Hoss System.
