Banks Technicooler for 6.0

I'm new to the site, and traded in my 05 Dodge for the 06 Ford. The Ford is all the comp. uses here in Iraq. Love the truck so far.

My question is has anyone installed a Banks TechniCooler on a 06 6.0L? Would this mod. void the warranty?

Re: Banks Technicooler for 6.0

A lot of us have. It should drop your EGT's 150+F, and bump your power 30-40HP. Regarding warranty, if installed right, it should not affect your warranty, however, keep in mind that anything related to inlet air could be hung on that puppy. If you have a dealer who is a pain in the a$$, just keep the stock one in the closet, and if something goes wrong, just reinstall it before bringing the truck to your dealer.

I disagree, most dealers that are not intimate friends or fishing buddies will deny an engine warranty that has a mod advertising that much power increase. I don't like it anymore than the next guy but rumor has it Ford is trying to trim the fat. Additionally, I wish I had one.

Re: Banks Technicooler for 6.0

Yes, Hypermax has a very nice one out....

They went to the extreme when they designed it, They wanted to get as much additional surface area as possible and to do it they tapered the front of it to allow MAX Surface area and still fit it under the hood...

I thought long & hard about purchasing one, and only decided to get the BANKS Techni-Cooler because the Hypermax was half again as much as the BANKS unit!

Hypermax' price on their website was close to $1500.00

BANKS sold for $1032.00 just before 12-31-05...

I'll have my BANKS installed along with a EDGE Plattinum and A2 monitor in a few weeks.

You can also read about the install of the Hypermax Charge Air Cooler in the current issue of PowerStroke Registry.

I hope your boots stay on better than the Banks unit. We are resorting to gluing and double clamping along with rerouting the CCV. I'm blowin boots off at 30+ psi......I don't want to think about what will happen at 60-70 psi when the twin turbo goes on.

I ran the Banks 6.0 IC in my 7.3 with the Banks boots at 42 pounds of boost, I never had a problem with one of them.

Re: Banks Technicooler for 6.0

if you could find a way to score the part of the tube where the boot meets, it should create a friction that would keep it from blowing off as easy...

Re: Banks Technicooler for 6.0

Boostup,

I bought it directly from BANKS.....

I called to ask a few questions and they offered me that pricing IF
I purchased it before 12-31-05.

I could not pass it up.

I just hope I dont regret it!

But the way I read Gale Banks description of "Why Cool & Dense Air is so important" I figured it was worth trying it to keep EGT's in check.

But I am skeptical of a automatic 30-40 H.P. gain from it?

If that were true, I figure all of us would already have one.

I'll be happy to post my opinions in a few weeks.

Regards
