Got my SPA gauge setup put in and was just wandering what #'s anybody else got on a stock 6.0. With the truck run to the max pulling a hill, it will hit 1100 deg on the pyro and reach 25 psi boost. The boost I expected but the egt seems a little high for a stock motor. Anybody?

Re: Baseline #'s for egt's and boost for stock 6.0
I have got the western diesel gauges and I can hit about 1200-1250 on mine . So that is why I'm getting the DPPI duals and intake to hopefully lower my EGT's.

Re: Baseline #'s for egt's and boost for stock 6.0
Uummm, yeah. Stop and go type stuff sounds about right too, egt's up and down. What I was saying is, unloaded, cruising at 70+/- mph, 800 deg. is average. At that speed, in fifth gear, if I am pushing 10lb boost I am closer to 900deg. At 5lb boost I am probably closer to 700 deg. That's what I read on my guages anyway, your mileage (or mine) may vary. I have yet to exceed a little over 1200 packing heavy, even up hill and dropping down a gear while in tow-haul.

Re: Baseline #'s for egt's and boost for stock 6.0
Mine will run about 1100 temp and 27 boost WOT from idle to limiter(flat ground). Runs about 700 down to road and boost varies alot. Pre turbo readings.
Re: Baseline #'s for egt's and boost for stock 6.0
Pulling my 10Klb trailer up a steep hill with the truck shifting down to third I can hit 1200 exh and 31lbs boost! NOTE with the box I don't need or get that much boost only 28 but hit the same temp.........all in 5th gear! AWESOME

Re: Baseline #'s for egt's and boost for stock 6.0
Towing my 33' Teton just this past ten days I saw 27 on the boost gauge & 1400 on the Pyro. Outside temp was over 100 & grade was 6% + needless to say I let off on the throttle to get the temp down. I found that I couldn't take advantage of all the power the 6.0 has because of the hi EGT.

Re: Baseline #'s for egt's and boost for stock 6.0
whats the meltdown temps on the 6.0L...i guess it should be the same as the 7.3L...is it somewhere around 1400*?...is that post or pre turbo?
Re: Baseline #'s for egt's and boost for stock 6.0
Mike,
Install a DPPI 4" exhaust system and your EGT problems will be OVER..
The stock Ford muffler is the real culprit here. It is incredibly restrictive.
With just a simple CAT back, you'll buy 100+ degrees, and another 100 by removing the CAT itself.
Re: Baseline #'s for egt's and boost for stock 6.0
EGTs change all the time.
800-1000 degrees while cruising is perfectly normal. Temps on a certain stretch of road can vary as much as 200 degrees up and down depending on wind and temperature, so there really isn't a concrete baseline to go by..
Anything is fine as long as it doesn't approach a consistant 1,350 degrees.
I tow all day long at 1,000 degrees with my truck, and that's perfect.

Looks like that's the main problem just by looking at my muffler. Rear 1/4 of it's discolored like it was very hot 1400+
I think that is the way I'm going to go. Thanks
