Re: Best Chip For 6.0 ?

Sell it and get a Focus... Seriously though, your friend has an 8,000# rig (don't have any idea how much they actually weigh). Sure he may get a mile or two better per gallon but this will not pay for itself for a long time. If he wants economy tell him to lighten it up as much as he can and keep his foot out of it. If he wants a chip for fun then look a couple post's down about the SCT...

Quadzilla XZT module. Under 300$ 5 minute install, not enough hp to lose mileage when flogged.

01blkf250,

Since you're looking fro MPG the most get the Edge EZ module, quality and a name brand and does what you're after for MPG. If you're looking for max HP that's another matter. Remember too that he needs to consider getting more air in and out, that hepls MPG as much as a module will. Call us if you want we get this question all the time and are glad to help.

Re: Best Chip For 6.0 ?

I don't sell any of them...
and I want the same thing for my 05 X....

Had a screamer with my 03 X that got great mpg for a shoebox

Have heard that SCT is having issues with the 05 X's....
not sure it has been resolved as yet....

Re: Best Chip For 6.0 ?

Yes, I agree, look at the shootout results. You can see how the Quadzilla XZT and Standard modules compare to the Extreme tunes.

Mind you our numbers are with almost no smoke as well.

[/ QUOTE ] Thanks guys for the replies, Mark I suggested to him to just replace his exhaust and air filter and he said he cannot justify replacing a brand new exhaust, that he will wait til it wears out, I told him he may not own it that long. I also explained to him that if he was going to chip it that he should get exhaust and air filter to keep Egt's down. He also told me that he is currently getting 15-16 mpg around town and 19-20 mpg highway and I told him that from what I know about 6.0's (which is not much) that is pretty good mileage. Again thanks to everybody for your replies, I will pass this info on to him.

Re: Best Chip For 6.0 ?

Might want to keep in mind that even if it gave him a 2mpg increase over what he has now, it would still take 20,000 miles to break even on a $4-500 chip (if I calculated correctly ). If he plans to keep it, great. If he likes to trade in every year, might not be worth it.

Re: Best Chip For 6.0 ?

That is why we make a module that is way less than $400-$500.

Re: Best Chip For 6.0 ?

The sct is programable, if you get another ford diesel odds are it could be reprogramed for that vehicle at a fraction of the cost of other products...my 2 cents..

Re: Best Chip For 6.0 ?

01blkf250,

If he is getting that kind on MPG he best count himself lucky as most folks would kill for that. You're right the stock exhaust will last a long time so he will need to like it etc.
