Best mod for mileage increase?

Just got the new truck. I was pretty surprised to find the mileage sucks so badly with this new engine over my old 7.3; I was getting 20MPG with that truck and it had 200K miles on it! Anyway, is there any single mod that will improve the mileage on these 6.0s over other mods?

Thanks-
BB

Re: Best mod for mileage increase?

I was hoping either turbo or cat back exhaust upgrade or a tuner/chip.

Re: Best mod for mileage increase?

Just got back from a 3000 mile trip. All but 400 miles were empty. Got 20 mpg using manual calculations. Thats at 75 to 80 mph on freeways.

Re: Best mod for mileage increase?

We will guarantee mileage increases or we will refund your money.

If you are just looking for mileage we have some 70hp modules that we are selling and they are a bargain. They run really well and will get you 1.5-2mpg on average.

IF we can help let us know.

Re: Best mod for mileage increase?

Break the truck in first. You will see a steady rise in fuel mileage as your truck is broken in.

Also are you comparing apples to apples ? Was your 7.3 the identical truck with same rear end gear ratio and options ?

Re: Best mod for mileage increase?

7.3 was a '95 extended Cab F250 long box with a 4.10
6.0 is a super Cab F250 4X4 short box with 3.73

Yeah, I need to break in the truck I agree. Also need to do my own math; something tells me the computer thingy on the ceiling may not be as smart as I would have hoped.

Still, it would be nice to know what I can do to stretch out the mileage. Thanks Quad, I wasn't aware anyone had a chip out for the 6.0 yet.

Re: Best mod for mileage increase?

On each of my first three tanks I have seen from .4-.6 MPG increase in mileage. I am due for another fill up on Thursday so I will see if the trend continues. My last tank got me 17.1 Hand Calculated from the same pump filled to the lip of the filler neck.

Maybe I missed it, but what are you using to get this mileage increase? I did not see it in your signature either.

Thanks

Re: Best mod for mileage increase?

Many 6.0L owners are reporting small increases in mileage by useing the Turbo Air Guide (TAG).

I think he's saying that his mileage is improving as he breaks in the motor.

Re: Best mod for mileage increase?

TasMan,

I hate to break the news to you but my truck is in completely stock running condition. DarkHorse is correct, as my truck is breaking in the mileage is improving. A good bit of my mileage is done on the highway, probably 70-80% with the air conditioner on Max.
