Best Programmer

Who makes the best programmer for a 04 6.0 Ford? I have an Edge with attitude and am very unhappy with the way my trans shifts. I am not going to use for drag racing I pull a 30ft Weekend Warrior toy hauler up to 12000lbs.

Re: Best Programmer

i had a edge/juice combo on an 04 and thought it was a nice setup. i had it set to defuel at all levels - found the shifts were better. i would consider an aftermarket valve body rather than a programmer. i have heard that increasing line pressure mechanically is much easier on your tranny than adjusting it through the computer. the factory tech valve body is around $250 and is claimed to increase tranny life - i have yet to hear that about a programmer. i just pulled a superchip off my computer in my 02 because my tranny is shot (2nd tranny with 48,000 miles on the truck)- the dealer told me that the chip didn't help. i am going to put an edge/juice with a FTVB this time.

Re: Best Programmer

I have 24,000 miles on the truck and purchased the 100k warranty. I do not ever want to worry about warranty issues if it breaks down while the wife is driving it and I am unable to un install something before it goes to the dealer and thats one of the reasons I want the programmer. Easier to take a program out than un install a chip. I dont want to install anything that is hard wired or mechanically attached. The only aftermarket part I have installed was a Gibson turbo back exhuast and from what the dealer tells me it will not effect my warranty.

The Diable Predator or the SCT should help. I have the Edge/Attitude and the Predator and there is a definite improvement. I run 5-5. It sometimes has trouble under WOT, but at all other conditions, it shifts very well.

Re: Best Programmer

i understand dealers opinion on chips vary. the dealer that i go to does not have any warranty issues with chips, programmers, etc. they told me to stay away from the superchip chip and the quadzilla because they have seen various problems with trucks that run them. on my 04 with the edge juice i found that i got the best performance with it set to level 3, de-fuel all levels, egt at 1350 and boost at 30. with an intake and 4" turbo back exhaust i would never max out egt's and would rarely max out boost. the truck was a dually and at 75-80 mph i would get 17.5 mpg.

I am pretty sure the FTVB is for the 4R100 behind the 7.3. There are no valve body mods for the T/S, as it is a fully electronic trans.

Also a properly filled out signature could help in matters such as this.
I am in the 6.0 forum right
