I am looking at getting a 05 F-450 4X4 SC with 6.0L/torque shift combo. I will be using the truck for my personal vehicle, and also towing my 33' 5th wheel. I am looking at getting the most performance out of the new truck, after break-in, as I can without tearing out the tranny. I would like to run a 120-130hp chip, or as big as I can get. What would you guys recommend???
For you needs and I would put some gauges in to watch your temps. That is if you are going to run a 120hp -130hp box. The instigator also has a 0-110 hp option. Oriented for daily driving and towing. I just like for guys to have at least a boost and a pyro gauge. Because every truck runs alittle different and the gauges are a kind of warning indicator.
ok list of what you need
1. gauges (pyro, boost, tranny temp because of the towing)
2. some kind of exhaust cat-back or turboback whatever need low etgs
3. TS performance chip!
I know your going to look at my sig and think why is he saying TS when he has an Edge well thats easy if you look at all the people on the board that had a toasted tranny they have an Edge. I will soon have my 05 F350 and I will be doing it right this time and will put in a TS Chip
Well, I went and looked at a 05 F-350 yesterday, and since they have now upped the tow and cargo ratings, I think that I am going to get a F-350 instead of a F-450. I just have a question about running a chip in the new 6.0L, how long should I wait before I chip it?? Also how big of chip can the TorqueShift handle while towing 12,000 lbs????
Gauges, exhaust, Turbo Air Guide (TAG), then Banks Six-Gun, and intercooler with High Ram.

Can someone answer these questions??? It would be a great help!!!
Look like they are too busy trying to sell you stuff to answer the question!
We have added chips and performance modules to trucks straight off the lot and had no problems. That said, if it were my truck, I would wait a few thousand miles to get the bugs worked out. Adding exhaust, air intake and gauges should not pose a problem, I would wait on the big power stuff. JS.

I use the Predator when I tow my TT. I waited over 15000 miles before
I decided to go with it. I only tow in the 45hp/115tq mode. Yes you
can tell a Huge differance over stock. As far as towing 12000lbs,
I do not know. My TT weighs a little over 8000 lbs loaded.

Guess it depends on how fast you want to void your warranty. Its a semi-free country so do as you like. Just don't complain should something happen and Ford voids your warranty. Check out the joys that another member (RC51) has had to deal with.
Personally, I would wait until you have around 10,000 miles on the engine before thinking about chipping it. These engines take a while to break-in.
Anyway, that is *my* opinion.
Do as you like.
Happy Truckin, and congrats on the new ride!
Brian.
