Boost Gauge

So this seems like a stupid question but does anyone know were the best place to hook my boost gauge into? I have a 03 F-350 4x4 dually.

Re: Boost Gauge

The best place is the manifold elbow on the top of the engine. It gives you the exact pressure of the intake and it prevents unnecessary chattering in the gauge sometimes seen when you Tee it into the MAP Line.

Re: Boost Gauge

Here are a couple pictures of where I drilled and tapped mine, seemed to have the most "meat" or material for tapping.

Boost fitting location (pic1)

Fitting I used (pic3)

Hope that helps. I'm a "visual" person, maybe you are also.

Re: Boost Gauge

I cant find the link. there is a company that makes aftermarket intake elbows. Increased flow, a little bling and pre-drilled and tapped for the boost fitting.

Whats the name of that company? Ugggghhh!

Re: Boost Gauge

Anywhere on the intake elbow is best. The MAP line "T" solution never worked well on the 6.0L. Here's a link: http://www.dieselmanor.com/diy/PSD3-...D3gauge-p2.htm

Look at the 2nd column, 2nd row. You can drill/tap anywhere on the elbow. If all you have is a straight fitting, that'll work too.

Re: Boost Gauge

Yep ...the intake elbow.

But if you want to dress the engine up a little and add some more airflow....go with the Accufab Power Air Inlet. It is already pre-drilled and tapped to accept a 1/8" NPT compression fitting for the boost tube.

I would recommend using a stainless steel elbow fitting and turn it towards the passenger side so the boost tube does not interfere with oil or fuel filter cap removal when conducting routine maintenance.

Re: Boost Gauge

I dunno if this is a dumb question but how do you drill/tap without getting shavings inside the elbow?

Take the four bolts out, take the hose off and remove it. When you're done, blow out the elbow good. You don't want any chips going in there, it goes directly into the motor!

Anyway, it isn't difficult to take it off at all. Took me about 5 Mins to get it off.

On a side note, does the Accufab elbow really do what they say it does? you know for the flow and all? I could see this being true on 03-04s that had the EGR throttle plate, but not really the 05+
