I installed an ISSPRO boost gauge and when I took the truck for a test spin I noticed a fluttering sound and the needle on the gauge vibrating a bit when I floored the pedal. This vibrating of the needle occurs when it reaches around 18 to 22 psi.
Anyone else experiencing this ?? I believe the fluttering sound is coming from the gauge !!
Thanks,

There have been many posts descibing that flutter for the Isspro's and Autometers. Consensus of most is not sure what to do about it. BTW, I have the DiPricols without any flutter.

Yes you may/will hear this sound coming from the gauge head on some trucks, but clearly not all of them and though there may be a defective gauge from time to time, most of the time its not do to the gauge. Its a pulsing within the motor that resinates through the map line. I've had these gauges in two different Fords without any of these issues. I put them in a friends truck, he later described this was happening to him so he took me for a drive to hear it first hand. We tried three more gauges, they all did it. He was convinced it was the gauge design and not his truck, so I told him to pick one, we put it in my truck, drove it, and no flutter. Now he's looking at me with that look. He tapped the horn and took it out of the map line and it stopped. You may want to try this. No guarantees.

My isspro never did it while in my 7.3 but did when I put it in the 6.0, both the POS 04/03 and now the 04/04 as well. I drilled and tapped the inlet by the throttle body, problem solved.

You probably need a gage snubber. It fits in the gage line and dampens the pulsing. Some folks over at the TDIClub.com use aquarium filters to dampen the pulsing and they seem to work really well. YMMV.
I originally started this thread and wanted to post an update.
I installed my boost gauge in the map sensor line via a plastic "Tee".
I was advised to turn all the way clockwise the adjusting screw locating inside the threaded fitting in the back of the gauge before installing.
I removed the gauge and backed off about 1 and 1/2 turns CCW, reinstalled gauge and now no flutter noise and very minimal needle vibration at the higher ranges.
I thought this may help some of you with same problem.

I wonder if this adjustment will work on the Autometer gauge. I also get the fluttering.

You could be right.... I have the Z series gauges. Funny thing is, this same gauge did not flutter in my 02.

I am ready to hook up the boost tube at the engine, I assumed it would be tapped into the inlet on the turbo the same as the dealer did on my 7.3. Now I see the consenus is to T it into the map sensor. I have WD guages and their web site says the same thing-T it in. I'm not sure the tube I have is long enough without replacing it to reach the other side of th engine nor do I have the T. I also notice that the inlet is now plastic where I would have to drill and tap if I was to use the old location the way the 7.3 was done. What should I do? I have all the parts required if I can tap the old threaded fitting into the plastic but is this a good install?
