I haven't replaced anything yet. I know I have a lot of stuff to do. I've seen you post quite a few times with alot of insite and info which has been every useful. I'm going to start with the common cause. It hasn't affected me yet; in the same token i want to elimintate the engine killing problem first before it turns into a heart transplant. By replacing the EGR cooler along with the OEM oil cooler, it gives me somewhat of a clean plate. I have small things like fuel filter to replace (which I don't think have been replaced yet since I bought the truck used with 66000 on it), clean the EGR valve also. It is an 05 f-350. She use to be a work truck and a car hauler; but she is a weekend driver. I can sit here all day and pick your brain. As for the pedal response. From a dead stop, the truck doesn't have excelleration like it use to have. That is what i was trying to get across

If your acceleration is starting to suffer, its possible that the veins in the turbo are sticking. You'll find a bunch of info on that subject also. It'll be off to do the cooler anyways; might as well take it apart and clean it. It may be fine, but it might be worth looking into if it has not been apart before.

The EGR cooler is going to be done no matter what.

Be aware that if you are into the motor far enough to take care of the EGR cooler then taking care of the oil cooler is a no-brainer.

IMHO their are only two ways to approach this oil cooler problem of the 6.0Ls - either replace the OEM parts with the bulletproofdiesel gear and not have to ever think about that problem again or replace the OEM oil cooler, add the coolant filter and do LOTS of flushes with the Ford flush and change the coolant filter religiously.

I decided to just jump right into a change in design rather than a patch and hope for the best.
