Bully Dog Triple Dog Power Pup?

I am currently looking at the Triple Dog Power Pup. Does this programmer have a code reader? I can't seem to find a for sure answer anywhere. I am looking at adding some power to the truck in the sig, but I don't want to go crazy. I also want something that will read codes, clear codes and help out the tranny. I currenlty have the EDGE EZ and I am not too impressed. Thanks for the help.

Re: Bully Dog Power Pup?

If you get the Outlook monitor w/the Power Pup it will read and clear codes. The programmer itself won't do it.

Re: Bully Dog Power Pup?

The Power Pup will read your DTC's and clear them with or without the Outlook Monitor. The monitor is nice for the EGT's and controling the program %. The part number is 41566 for the combo and 41561 for just the power pup. Another nice thing about these now is that they are internet updateable.

Re: Bully Dog Power Pup?

I am looking at the programmer that is good for all makes of diesel trucks. Is this the same one you are talking about?

I guess it is actually called the Triple Dog Power Pup.

Re: Bully Dog Power Pup?

The one that you can move to a Cummins or a Duramax is the Triple Dog part# 40500 for just the pup and 41500 for the combo (6.0L Ford).

Does the triple dog have code reading/clearing capabilities?

Re: Bully Dog Power Pup?

SuperDawg,
I'm running the Bully Dog Trip. Dog with Outlook and LOVE it. It is really a great computer. A lot of guys run the SCT which is great as well. The MAIN thing the B.D. has over the SCT is EGT safe guard. Like the Edge it will defuel the engine at a set EGT temp to chill it out. I ran an Edge in my truck for too long. They're tranny killers. The B.D. has got 2 great tranny tunes in them. You honestly won't be dissappointed. Like someone else said, it is upgradeable over the internet. It's about a 5min. process. So cool. It's your truck, do whatcha want, but, you WILL like this computer. And yes, it will read PCM codes and clear them but not TCM codes or I belive FICM codes if there are FICM codes.

Re: Bully Dog Power Pup?

Learn something new everyday...I've always just used the Outlook to read and clear codes. I didn't know the pup alone could also do it. Thanks for enlightening me.

Re: Bully Dog Triple Dog Power Pup?

Superdawg- The Tripledog will read and clear DTC's. You can also change settings on the fly with it if you leave it plugged in. The Tripledog also has 2 different trans settings aggressive and smoothe. Aggressive is neck snapping shifts, smoothe is quick and firm. If you have any questions, give us a holler.

SuperDawg,

It'll do all you asked about and you'll like the HP a lot. You can also play with the EZ you have and stack it with the Triple Dog too! If you have any tech questions just call us.

BD is a tranny killer too! I know, I've seen me do it!

Re: Bully Dog Triple Dog Power Pup?

I'm not too sure about the BD being a tranny killer. I know the Edge destroys them. I've got lotsa buddies running BD's only on their trucks with 50K on the trannies and they've been fine. I killed my first tranny with an Edge at 24K. I think ANY programmer or tuner or whatever are STOCK TRANNY killers. I think the stock tranny is great for stock power. Once you add more power... I think it's a matter of time, and prolly a matter of right foot also.

bullydog questions

I am new to the diesel power game. I have a 2007 Harley Davidson F-250 with Volant Cai and Gibson dual exhaust. I am looking into programmers with both a monitor and hp/torque gains. From what I have read thus far Bullydog seems to be what I am looking for. I have read a little about the tranny problems can anyone enlighten me to this issue? I am not trying to buy multiple programmers and stacking them. Also the Bullydog web site states that tire sizes may not be abl eto be programmed in. Is this true? I am looking at going up to 37's in near future.

you're obviously familiar with the search feature....or you wouldn't have drudged this 2yr old thread up. Search for SCT custom tunes and save yourself some headaches. Do about a day or two of some research, look over all the reactions people have and make your own decision. Good luck.
