clutch slipping

I was wondering if anyone else is having a problem with their clutch slipping. My truck is an 03 f250 6.0 6 speed with a custom made intake, 5" staight pipe, and a diablo programer. My problem is in 5th and 6th gear, and sometimes in 4th. once the tach reaches about 2300 rpm it jumps up to around 2800-3000rpm and sits there untill the speed catchs up. The truck is pulling strong, but i was tring to find out if anyone else is having the same problem. Also I was wondering what is out there for aftermarket clutchs.

Re: clutch slipping

I have looked everywhere for an aftermarket clutch and have been able to find nothing. I can't see there being nothing out there for these trucks . Has anyone seen anything? I was looking at southbend clutches but everything seems to be for the 7.3L. If there is nothing out there for the 6.0L, is there some kind of conversion i could to to put a 7.3L clutch on my truck? Thanks for any help.

Re: clutch slipping

I thought the tranny was the same as the one in the 7.3? If so theres lots of aftermarket stuff out for it.

There is more than one option on the 6.0L. A lot of people have the torqueshift, a 5-speed. I think there is also a 6-speed. I didn't think either were the same as the one on the 7.3L.

Re: clutch slipping

Mine will slip with the Instigator turned up and jumping on the throttle down low in the rpm range. Flooring it around 1500 to 1800 rpm will cause a momentary slip in the clutch slipping a few hundred rpm for a few seconds until the truck speed catches up with the clutch/motor speed.

Re: clutch slipping

Mine is worse than that, but even that is bad for the clutch, and it will only get worse as time goes by. So the solution is a better aftermarket clutch, but the question still stands, who makes one?
Thanks for all of the information guys.

I think the ZF 6 speed in the 99-03 7.3L PSD is he same as yours . I don't know this for sure but can't think what they could change or why. Its a great tranny! I have the Luk with the Kevlar Bushing.
make sure you get the Kevlar

Re: clutch slipping

Don't get the kevlar if you are going to do any serious pulling with it! Trust me, once the kevlar gets hot it will not hold! If you'd like to see proof go over to the "other" site and watch my pull with the kevlar luk clutch! It wasn't pretty! As far as the tranny's go the 7.3 is a ZF6 just like the 6.0. Now the flywheel and clutch are probably different (better) than the 7.3! Nancy has 11,000 on her 6.0 6 speed and hasn't had any clutch problems, of course the trucks still stock so that's probably why!
