Jose, if you look at the engine and to the right I think its the valve cover you shoould see a 3/4" hose comming off of it, and that should be going to a tube that's attached to the turbo. If its still the oem plastic piece on it, It will be very hard to see. Its a hose thats about at the max 5" long and its tucked way under the oem plentum. If its an aftermarket tube, mines facing the firewall with an elbow welded onto it. I'll try to snap some pics of it for you.

Drove the truck to work to day and it was bad. I rolled the window down and it sounds like its the bov or whatever it called in these trucks going off sporaticaly and I think that is why the truck surges. I have an edge on there but I don't know if its fast enough to read the boost drops. Also it threw a P0102 or a P0104 for the MAF but not diagnostic trouble codes.

Any ideas?? Should I just start a new thread?

I'll see if I can't find the trouble codes for ya. As far as the tuner goes, I have heard quite a few people stating that the only good tuner for these trucks are the SCT tuners. Probably doesn't have any thing to do about it because a few people have the edge.

Just checked, I can't find that code being a right one. Are you sure if those are the right codes that it flashed?? Tell ya what, go to Competition Diesel Forums go to forums, then go to 6.0 technical information. Their is a sticky on all the DTC codes for the 6.0 there. See if you can match your code up to any of the ones listed. Good luck man!

Sawed off,

You are not making me feel good about this INJEN/AMSOIL cold intake system. I am planning on purchasing this January, but from what you are saying you are not happy. I have the programmer and exhaust now then I planned on opening the air to the engine. I have read in many forums for towing you need better air flow to the engine after exhaust and programmer. Is this not true?

I the reason I am set on the INJEN intake is due to the fact I am using all AMSOIL products now in my 6.0 so I thought I should go with what I know and from what I have read about AMSOIL and filtering I have been sold.

Please help me out here, now I am really confused now.

thanks....Jarrod

If you do decide to get an aftermarket kit dont waste your money and time on the airaid kits. The filters are oiled gauze and fall apart after 20,000 miles. Look for the new dry flow kits. I know afe has one and i think aem brute force has a dry flow

I second the AFE intake. They are really great and I really doubt you would regret getting one. They filter atleast as good as stock and breath a lot better.

I installed the AFE stage II with pro dry S filter last weekend on a 2000 Ex 7.3. No other mods. I wasn't modding for extra pwr, just trying to right some sorry work from the body shop after one of my daughter's driver-learning experiences. Anyway, stock batt-box/intake was re-installed after significant front-end collision, and whilst air path from filter to engine was intact, the entire inboard wall was destroyed so essentially intake air was coming from exhaust manifold. Batt box nothing to be proud of either. Originally ordered the stage I figuring I'd worry witht the battery later, but was on back order so I sprung the extra $$ for the stage II which included the batt mount tray.

Only on a week, and my wife drives it...'cept when it needs fuel....but on that one trip, I'd say the power increase is at least noticeable, if not "significant." I do sincerely doubt +50 hp claimed, though. I know this: a)the sound is louder than OEM, but not louder than broken OEM. It is however, different, and more pleasant than that made by the OEM filter box broken in the way mine was. b) the Michelin LTX's (w/10K mi on em) on the rear squealed like an Obama-supporter-who'd-just-been-asked-to-register-legally under full throttle acceleration on dry pavement and I've NEVER heard that before on this truck, even before the tire change, same brand/model tires with 100K on 'em. So there's an increase, but after one week (and a 13 mi. round trip for fuel) I can't really quantify it for you. Will repost when enough data is available to make a statement on potential fuel mileage effects. AFE kit was an easy install and generally a good pc. of gear, it appears. Filter cleaning via tap on hard surface, vacuum, or wash it in the sink. No oil. Only complaint is that the grommet supplied to mate filter indicator to box seems a fuzzloose btwn grommet and sheet metal, grommet to indicator fit is good.

I ahve a s@b intake and love it. easy as pie to isntall and never had a problem. NAyway that noise you are eharign is trubo fart. its when you let off the throttle after being on the throttle signifigantly. it is the excfess boost coming back down the intake. Nothing to get alarmed about

i'm wondering if there is anyway to prevent it.. like get rid of it, even though it sounds cool

It isnt really good for the motor. I dont rememebr the company but they make a blow off valve for our trucks. Its 800 dollars. it billet alluminium and very nice piece. personally I am saving my 800 dollars and I tought my foot to gradually let off the throttle. tada no more turbo fart; almost evryone aggrees its relatively harmless
