Commandor monitor ????

I have another question about the commandor monitor. yesterday I was driving and my coolant temp would start jumping all over the place. It would go from 210 to 300 and back randomly. Ive checked the connection and seems fine. Any idea's? It was working perfectly, then all of the sudden it started doing this. Thanks

Re: Commandor monitor ????

Is it set up for your particular truck??

Be sure that the model of the truck is set in the menu. Other than that, I have no clue...

Re: Commandor monitor ????

Re: Commandor monitor ????

You might want to tighten up the connection to the water temp and put dielectric grease on the connection. I had the same problem and that fixed it for me.

Re: Commandor monitor ????

Yes I had the same problem with my temperature readings. The tap does not push the wire down good enough. You have to flip the cap of the tap back and push the wire into the jaws of the tap with a screw driver to make a better connection. After I did that all worked fine.

Re: Commandor monitor ????

Make sure after you tap the wire you do not spin the tap around or move it a ton as it will psuh the insulation away from the tap and it will not hold as good.

If it is going between running temp and 300 deg then it is definitely a loose tap.

Re: Commandor monitor ????

FYI, I ditched the taps. Sorry Quad, but I didn't find that they worked all that well. I ended up shaving the insulation off of the wires and soldering the connections. Now I know the connections are good. Kind of a PIA though, but worth the piece of mind IMO.
