commandor monitor ???'s

I just got one installed on my truck and I have a question. The boost readings are way different then the factory gauge. When the monitor says 30 pounds, the factory gauge only reads 20 or so. Should I be worried or no? I just want to make sure I have everything hooked up correctly. Thanks

Re: commandor monitor ???'s

I find this to be the case with my Banks PDA also. The stock gauge never shows over the 20-25 range while the banks will say 32 at times. They match up to the 20-25 range perfectly. The banks just pulls the info from the stock sensor also. I wonder if the stock gauge might just work like the rest. That is they don't show the high side of anything until it's really high like the trans temp and coolant temp stock sensors do. Maybe someone with an aftermarket gauge in the elbow will chime in and can let us know if their readings match the stock.

Re: commandor monitor ???'s

Are you running this with one of our modules or another module?

It sounds like it and the reason is that the modules send a false signal, or a Capping signal to the ECM to prevent overboost from showing up in the ECM.

The Commander actually reads the signal before it gets altered.

I am not familiar with the Banks but, I am betting it is the same situation.

Re: commandor monitor ???'s

Im actually running a SCT tuner with your monitor. I wanted the eaze of returning back to stock when neccessary. The factory boost gauge will read 20 pounds while the commandor reads 30 pounds? Im just assuming the factory gauge is just like the water temp gauge? Reads to slow? I noticed my water temp gauge moves almost halfway up before the truck even reaches 120 degrees.

Re: commandor monitor ???'s

most of the chip, programmers use a boost fooling technique which allows the engine to build more boost. stock the ecm monitors boost pressure and when it sees to much boost it will cut back on fuel, kick ses light.the after market companies only let the ecm see about 20 lbs of boost so it will not cause issues with fueling, were in reality the boost numbers are higher that is why you are seeing more boost on your aftermarket gauges, monitors. I THINK

Re: commandor monitor ???'s

Make sure you have the right vehicle selected in the menu.

Are you just using the Commander as a monitor?

I have the same setup. SCT/Commander.

My boost reading is dead on with the factory gauge.

Re: commandor monitor ???'s

It sounds like you may not have set the unit to "Ford 6.0 liter" in the setup area. If you don't set this then you will get wrong boost readings

Re: commandor monitor ???'s

Glad I found this thread too, I didn't know there was a HW setup for which Make/Engine/Year. Once I set mine to Ford 6.0 03-04 mine reads Boost and Temp perfect too now. Temp was always 30 deg low it seemed. And boost was always hitting 30, But Hey I was pulling hard :-)
Thanks
