I have had great experiences with XDP as well, plus 10% off. I heard not to run the WIX filter, isn't this what the Sinister kit comes with?

I may be stupid but are all coolant filters interchangeable?

For coolant I haven't heard anything bad about any of them except that you need "non charged" or something like that. That list should be interchangable without problem, regardless who made your filter kit, they all have the same spin on design.

Here is a different coolant filter kit that is less expensive. It looks like a little cleaner install due to the extra hoses they include and not needing hose clamps.

I went with my instinct and bought the Sinister system from XDP. With the 10% discount I got it for $118 shipped. I like the idea of having hose clamps only for the fact in case of a line rupture, you can snip and re-clamp.

Small chance of that happening I'm sure, but the cost of a line replacement IMO would be a bit more pricey than a snip and re-clamp. Of course, this also depends on the location of the rupture.

Well, I got the coolant kit today and picked up some Fleetrite ELC from my local international dealer for $17/gal. I will be conducting the filter install and flush tomorrow morning. The kit seems to be great quality so far, guess we wont really know until there's pressure, heat, and fluid in the lines.

Got the coolant system flushed and filled with new Fleetrite ELC (concentrate). The old coolant didnt look bad at all on the first drain or the 4th. I pulled both block drain plugs, lower radiator hose, and the radiator drain. Not much sediment, no goo or honey like substance, it looked pretty good for 100,000 mile "ford gold" coolant.

I also installed the sinister coolant filter. The setup is nice, everything went smooth except for that little nylon plug at the radiator drain. All those tips about not over tightening.....well, I did just that and broke the hex portion off. Just my luck! Its in good n tight, but I will need to drill and obviously replace. Thanks to everyone for theyre advice on 6.0 coolant flushes.

Sometimes I hate beer muscles.

I flushed her 4x......first flush with restore plus and distilled water. 2nd, 3rd, and 4th with just distilled water. Last fill was with fleetrite ELC concentrate and distilled water (to make a 50/50 mix).

Took me almost 4 hours without removing the thermostat. Heat up and cool downs were a bit time consuming. Next time with the t-stat removed for sure.

I went with this kit here>>IPR High Flow Coolant Filter Ford 6.0 ....It's been a really good buy, I pulled out a crap ton of crud my first 400 miles. When the max A/C is on it turns into a full heater core line flow and in normal A/C or the heater on it's a 50% flow. Either way it's way more than the degas bottle line and has a washable filter. So I'm saving on filters and filtering way more coolant over less time.

Just ordered the same thing from IPR, I plan on installing at the same time I install the Gen2 EGR delete.
Pros
1: reusable, washable stainless steal filter, this factor alone means it can pay for itself a little quicker.
2: this kit has bigger lines and is designed to handle full flow but can also be setup to be a bypass system like the sinister
3: mounts above the vacuum pump leaving that popular spot to the left of the radiator open for some other goodies like a bypass oil filter kit or IPR's high flow external oil cooler kit.
Cons
1: from what I can see, there are no ball valves at the cooler housing. I talked with IPR rep this morning and he verified that the kit will not include valves but reassured me that there would be no more coolant loss than what stays in the larger filters of the popular bypass kits that are already out there.
2: looks like this kit doesn't include a "bling" package other than the housing and filter.
3: this kit is a little more expensive.
