just finished installing my new MBRP exhaust on my 04 F250 crew cab and got all excited as i got ready to turn the key. fired it up and got ready for a great sounding exhaust..... needless to say I am still waiting. what gives? i installed it per the directions and triple checked for leaks or anything wrong. it is all right, but the sound lacks. I expected a throaty sound, didnt want anything horribly loud, just a fuller sound. I think my stock exhaust was louder than this. please tell me it gets louder when it heats up!
Honestly I have been curious about this too. I'm getting a new exhaust to fix a few missing parts for the Cali smog test. Right now the truck is straight piped and I woundn't call it really loud now by any means. So I'm not expecting much after I get the missing items back in place.
Are you still running the cat (I'm not telling you to remove it, that would be illegal) BUT when I did mine, just the muffler being straight piped was incredibly dissapointing. The cat absorbs ALOT of the engines exhaust noise. My only experience with MBRP was on a buddys Dodge, and really it didn't make his truck sound any better than stock. It was louder, but not even close to what was expected.
if possible try installing the muffler backwards. this will make it to where the baffling is not as effective noise wise.

The cat is the problem, it is blocking all of the engine noise. It is not MBRP's fault, you could use any exhaust that retains the cat and have the same sound result.
The tone gets better. I had an MBRP 4" turbo back installed about 2 months ago, kept the converter. It must need some break in time because it didn't sound much different from stock at first, but with time it got better. It's not much louder, but has a deeper tone.

I put the mbrp 4' turbo back on my 04 and it sounds just like the sound file on their website.
I, too, kept the cat and will have it upgraded to the 4' pipe to install it into the 4' exhaust for the new inspections.

I too have the MBRP turbo-back exhaust. 4 inch. Kept the cat. Wasn't looking for loud, so it's ok with me - but only ok. I can look in the Summit Racing year old catalog I have, and they have aftermarket performance cats for gas engines. Anyone make a performance cat for our trucks...? If so, Cost..? claimed performance gain..? Depending on cost, I'd get one for a 10+ HP gain.

Added Clifford remote start 1/07. Power Elbow 2/07. 6500# Front springs 3/07. MBRP Turbo back 7/07.
New Rear "F350 + 500lbs" leafs 11/09.
MBRP is just perfect. Not rediculous loud like some of those other momo's. Just perfect when I'm creeping in late at night BUT when at WOT it'll let you know!!!. On my setup, when started up you'll here the initial rumble then the turbo hiss/whistle. NICE!

please keep track of your mpg's and let us know ive been looking at a turbo back system for a while i got a bully dog tunner for better mpg's and it didnt do shift for that so i took it out the middle setting though wanted to rip my tires off so i could only wounder what the extreme setting would do (i didnt care to find out)
I fell for the Bully Dog hype in 2005 when I bought my Triple Dog w/ Outlook.
The Outlook is nice. It allows on the fly changing of the power settings. It allows you to monitor the engine's conditions. Except engine temp. On the PSD that is not a feature that is supported. And, as long as the outside temperature is within a normal, mid-range, it works fine. But in cold weather it regularly reboots and you have to reset everything that you have set up. Such as if you changed your tire size setting for your actual tire size. Or, you set it to monitor oil temp., for example, and some of the other available monitors. Then, as you are driving down the road it will reboot and reset to the factory defaults. Then, the next time you have some time you can reset everything as you want it. Only to have it reboot at some time of it's choosing and you have to redo everything again.
Oh, I called them. And, I sent it in. They pulled the same thing the stealerships pull. But, instead of blaming the issue on the aftermarket product as the stealership does, Bully Dog blames it on a faulty truck. That's right, they said that there must be an issue with the computer on my truck. Their product can only be as good as the truck it is fitted to.
No, I would stay away from Bully Dog products.
