Do I replace the oil cooler

I tried searching for this answer but didn't find it.

I'm about to fix the EGR and install a coolant filtration system. Do I need to replace the oil cooler while the truck is apart or will the coolant filter eventually clean out the gunk that is already in the oil cooler?

The gunk in the oil cooler that is there will remain there even with coolant filter installed. I would replace it sense you are allready there and make sure you flush engine block and radiator REAL good so you start fresh and clean even with filter in place.I dont think you can clean the oil cooler but not 100 % sure on that. But if you don't it could come back and HAUNT you later.

Thanks I thought it would be better to fix it while the truck was apart.

One other question. Ford has a "oil cooler kit" and an oil cooler with the "complete assembly" is there any need to get the whole assembly or will the kit include everything I need?

I see no reason to replace the pump(you might test the pressure before tear-down )unless you plan on injectors that would benefit from upgraded pump. Forgive the sour grapes but there are sponsers on this forum who sell the oil cooler and deserve your money more than who screwed it up to start with then stuck thier head in the sand afterward.
