GEEZE, if it made his Cummins turbo "absolutely scream"......my '03 6-OH would sound scary!!!!!
.........where's my screwdriver?!?

Come on folks, any more info would be appreciated!

BTW, lukesdiesel I think your '04's silencer ring will have to be machined in order to remove it. Compare the changes in the turbo HERE.

Re: Does removing the turbo's SILENCER ring help performance any?

Can this be done on the 2005?

I also removed it on the cummins and it sounds 100% better, when my buddie drove it he was looking over his shoulder,(siren sound)
I would love for my powerstroke to sound the same!

thnaks

Re: Does removing the turbo's SILENCER ring help performance any?

I'm sure your '05s ring can be machined off, just like in the above link.

Re: Does removing the turbo's SILENCER ring help performance any?

Can this be done without removing the turbo completely or does it have to be taken off from the engine?

If you have an early '03 like I do, you can take the hose off and pop the ring off.

If my dad wasn't taking a nap, I would have it done by now---I didn't want to open the garage door and wake him.

Re: Does removing the turbo's SILENCER ring help performance any?

I've already got the hose off, but I can't seem to pop the ring off, do I just need to pry the hell out of it or what?

models made before 4-03 have a easily removeable steel silencer. just pops out

[/ QUOTE ]

If you have a later model, it will have to be machined. Check THESE PICS for an upclose.
