Yesterday, I installed the system on my regular cab long bed.
I'm having an intermittent horrible grinding rattle sound.
It seems to be the exhaust hitting the firewall.
I've adjusted it twice, but it keeps touching. There's really no way to make it further from the firewall, as it will hit the two bolts on the crossmember.
Should I take the downpipe off and grind down the flange a little to change the angle???
I've done 3 of them and haven't had a problem. Give Mark a ring and see if he has a fix. The only thing I can think of is the two piece DP is not properly seated and it is causing the bad angle. RIck

The downpipe is seated in itself almost 3". I trial fit every joint before I put it on.
The contact is above the joint, anyway. The only way to move it is via the coupler at the turbo. So, I loosened it, made sure it's on there straight and tight, snugged it up so it's clamped, but can still spin...then moved it around. The most I can get is about 1/8" from the firewall.
Accelleration causes it to hit and eventually (20 minutes of driving), it's hitting over bumps and the slighest accelleration.
In reverse it hits badly, too. (bad sound, grinding vibration as it hits the firewall). Any ideas?
I just did mine about 3 weeks ago. Are you sure that is where it is hitting? Did you do the cat delete? My down pipe is about 1/8-1/4 inch from my firewall. I only had one piece that looked like it would make a rattling sound. I did the cat delete. The hanger welded on the cat delete was a little long. It hit the frame rail when I first istalled it. I the adjusted it, and it was fine. I never drove it until after I adjusted it, so I'm not sure what noise it would have made. The other thing would be how the clamp for the down pipe is turned. I took some careful adjusting to get it to the furthest point away.

I am using a sure-seal clamp, so...no clearance issues there.
The hanger for the cat (welded) is a little long, but has about 3/4" clearance. (if I shake it hard, I can make it hit, but not the sound that I'm hearing)
It's right at the firewall, just a few inches above the downpipe clamp.

If it is moving then it's not tight enough or more likely you have the whole system in a bind forcing pressure toward or away from the front causing the pipes to move under the pressure. Remember the system has to be modified to fit a Std Cab Std Bed like we mentioned when you called. The only other choice is your V band clamp at the turbo is defective and can't clamp the down pipe to make sure it stays put. The down pipe should have no force on it except the torque over of the engine, and that is up and down for the most part. The system shoudl sort of just hang there when everything is clamped down correctly.
The best way to eliminate the problem is loosen EVERYTHING up, start at the front and make sure you have the down pipe where you want it so that it doesn't have any contact (it has been in a no contact location before and if it isn't in the same place now then something has caused it to move), then work to the rear and MAKE sure that nothing is in a bind as you tighten it all up. Remember the system can be installed on a std cab 8 foot bed, but you have to do the mods to make it work. It's not built for that particular truck etc. Call me if you need to maybe we can help you!

I think it might have been the V-clamp.
J&D performance took everything apart and put it all back together like was suggested.
The V-clamp was seriously not wanting to unscrew.
Also, it should be noted that the contact would take place after the truck was warmed up and usually after about 10 min of freeway driving. Jeremy at J&D lubed up the clamp threads and got it off. He put it back on and all is well (after a couple hours or wrangling wih the hangers to make sure everything was perfect)
I think you ought to make a special intermediate pipe for regular cab trucks. (I really do)

Yeah, but only one guy in a bazillion ever gets one of these truckw with a regular cab.

Yeah, not all of us can have the coolest trucks.
I like my crewcab 2000, but this regular cab does everything and it's easier to park!

Hey now, there's at least 2 here now I like my regular cab. I wanted the sportier version versus the "family sedan" truck. I'm single, so it fits me perfect. Plus I have the most power in the smallest truck.

That would be nice to have a special system for the std cab trucks, but like OMCUSNR_RET said the population is VERRRRRY small and asking 300 dealers to stock an aluminized, an T409 and a T-304 stainless systems not to mention duals systems as well for such a rare beast would be tough to do.
Glad you got Jeremy at J&D to get you corrected and back on the road, they really know what they are doing over there and are great to deal with. Most companies wouldn't have even considered working on something they didn't sell much less having been installed already, but in their usual manner they took on the job to help you out and got the problems fixed up!
