Is there anyone out there that has a Dyno cheet for the Superchip 1704?
I have seen numbers for the Banks, Edge, Quad (125HP, not the 160HP)
I'm ready to buy one of these programmers but before I do, I would like to see what the Superchip does for the 6.0. Superchip $400, compared to $750 on up for the other programers.
Correct If I 'm wrong, why is the Superchip so cheap and has more HP then compaered to Banks, Edge, Quad?

I'm betting it does not.

From some of the posts on here, it appears to not make as much except at peak to peak gains or something like that. I kinda got confused myself trying to figure it out .

The "other" programers like the Edge include the gauge package, that's the reason it's more expensive than the Super Chips. You might find that the HP might not be "useable" HP. Real HP vs useable HP is two different things. Peak isn't waht you're really after, 1500-3000 RPM is where you live and what you need unless you want to race etc. So ratings are not nesessarily what you want to go by when you're buying a programmer or module. Call us if you have any questions we have them all and we have played with them at one time or the other on our trucks.

The SC 1704 only showed a 90hp gain over stock when we tried it on my buddies truck. The Predator showed a 150hp gain over stock, it seemed like these numbers should be reversed per what they say they make. But that is what was done, same truck, same day, 15 min between each one while we programmed and de-programmed.
Stock 238hp
SC 1704 333hp
Predator 384hp
Do the math, and go from there...

I have the SC 1704 on 120 (Economy) it doesn't feel quite as fast as a friend of mines truck with the Edge so it seems correct to me that the SC 1704 doesn't make as much horsepower as claimed. I haven't tried it on the 150 (high performence) setting yet becuase I haven''t installed guages yet. Over all I am very happy with the SC 1704 it sure makes the truck come to life.

FYI, I tow on the 150 HP tune and have no problems with EGT's at all. I wouldn't worry about getting gauges before trying it. Even SC says you don't need anything else, of course that is if you're driving as you should and not trying to tear something up. Normal driving, I wouldn't hesitate to run HP without gauges, exhaust etc. Give it a shot. If you're into smoke, you'll like the HP tune. Of course they tell you you do not need gauges, they want you to buy their product over anyone elses and not have you have to spend te money on gauges then buy the super tuner. Your EGT's stock will get way to high, let alone with that much more fuel. Just my opinion though, and another point of my opinion would be to listen to what Mark and Quad have to say they do know what they are talking about.
The SC 1704 that we tried out on the DYNO went back 2day. Have no regrets about it, the only nice thing about it was all the smoke it produced on my friends truck, other than that it sucked...

The superchip 150 hp rating is definitely not a gain over peak hp. I have tested it on my mustang dyno and it didn't make what they claimed over the stock peak. I do believe that they probably can gain 150 hp, but at a lower rpm or higher rpm. Also the claim for no gauges is very bogus. Even how Familyride says his egt's aren't too high. Thats fine at low altitude, come up here to 7500 ft and it wont be the same. That statement is too general. At higher altitudes the amount of oxygen is much less and so the egts are much higher. Look where superchip is located, sea level. Just because it doesn't get hot there doesn't mean I trust it. If you live any higher than sea level a pyrometer should always be used with any chip/tuner run on the higher settings. My truck stock, running up a 7% grade at 10000 ft with a 20,000 lb load had the pyrometer running at 1300 degrees. This truck was stock! And they are going to tell me that I can put the 1704 in the highest setting and not need a gauge. Get real! Sure if they'll include a warranty on my engine and turbo.

I agree 100% I live in Vegas at 2100ft and unloaded I can get 1300 degrees stock! Our corrected altitude is problably much higher than 2100ft because we also have very hot air.
Good point on the altitude. Everywhere I've gone and/or watched EGT's are here at about 500' or even lower. It'll be interesting to get it up to a higher altitude.

So what should youre EGT be? What is the threshold, and do these chips read the gauge and adjust themselves, or what? Never used a chip but thinking about it.
Your EGT's stock will get way to high, let alone with that much more fuel.
In my case you are wrong. My truck is bone stock except for the gauges and tuner. I have not even approaced high egt's and that is towing 15-16k up very long hills. My brother just got his and has been playing around with it on all the settings and he hasn't gotten high egt's either.
I tow across Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, etc. at high altitudes. The altitude has not made that much of a difference. Stock I never saw anything close to what some of you are saying. A couple trips we've been 26,000 gross and not gotten up into the red.
